This groundbreaking musical trio seamlessly blends flamenco, Latin, and jazz in music and dance with a cast of world-class artists from around the country who are rooted in a variety of musical genres.

Check it out at Mills Park and make sure to catch the talented officers competing in this year’s Extreme Motor Officer Training Challenge while you’re there. The kids in town are getting a new Teen Center at the Boys and Girls Club: the ribbon cutting is at 10 a.m. You’ll find author Mike White at the Nevada State Museum this evening. His presentation on the best backpacking trips in Nevada and California is part of the Francis Humphrey Lecture Series.

Join the Nevada National Guard at the Capitol for their Flag Day ceremony and celebration of the Army’s birthday. Mile High Jazz Band has something special in store. Their monthly concert will be held in the Brewery Arts Center’s Performance Hall, and features guest soloists, poets, and more. Continue on for even more things to do in Carson City.

The program opens with Bach’s Concerto in C Minor BWV100, featuring Josue Casillas on flute and Nita Tune, oboe, and continues with Bach’s Cantata BWV 180, Schmücke Dich, with soloists Anna Helwing, Becky Earl and Anne Davidson, sopranos; Brad Perry, tenor; and Emzy Burroughs, baritone.

Lineup for Brewery Arts Center's free summer concert series
Submitted by Brett Fisher on Sat, 04/30/2016 - 9:00amThe Brewery Arts Center (BAC) in downtown Carson City will be hosting a free summer concert series this year, sponsored by the Mortimer and Mimi Levitt Foundation.
Through the efforts of the BAC, Carson City was one of 15 cities nationwide awarded the concert series for 2016.
The Levitt AMP Carson City Music Series kicks off June 4 and will run every Saturday evening through August 6 with live music starting at 7 p.m. along Minnesota Street next to the BAC. The 10-week music series will include one Friday night show on June 17.
The concert series is free and open to the public.

Tami’s particular job description requires her to both physically care for and academically work with students who have severe and profound learning disabilities. She exuberantly enjoys working with these students in the Comprehensive Life Skills class. This often requires Tami to lift, carry, feed, and assist with other physical challenges as these students need full-time adult supervision.

Jazz echos throughout middle school halls

Licks and riffs on saxaphone, guitar, and even a xylophone could be heard from the front door as everyone took interest in Mr. Kline's instruction. Enthusiasm and energy could be felt with every note played as these kids showed a hunger to learn all they could during the free, four and a half hour workshop.

Marla Fibish and Bruce Victor are Noctambule. They play original and traditional music in a variety of forms – original musical settings of a broad array of poetry, original instrumental pieces, and traditional Irish tunes and songs. Senator Square: CHS students bring home top honors at speech and debate tourney
Submitted by editor on Sun, 11/22/2015 - 9:43amCHS competed at the Spanish Springs tournament last weekend for speech and debate. Twenty-one Carson High debaters competed on Friday and 16 students competed Saturday. Several students brought home top honors at this tournament which had roughly 470 entries. Competing in senior level debate for the first time Evan Cherpeski took tenth place in Public Forum speaking point.
