Carson City Grocery Outlet's 'Independence From Hunger' campaign benefits Northern Nevada Dream Center

Grocery Outlet Bargain Market, the extreme-value grocery retailer, launched its 13th Annual Independence from Hunger Food Drive, to combat food insecurity and support families in vulnerable and disadvantaged communities throughout America. From June 28 to July 31, 2023, Carson City Grocery Outlet is teaming up with The Northern Nevada Dream Center, to collect cash donations in-store and online.

Black Friday will look different this year in Carson City, many stores closing for Thanksgiving

Crowds have often flocked to the major corporate retailers in Carson City for the best deals of the season, and in recent years, stores have begun to open earlier and earlier for a leg up, breaching into Thanksgiving day. However this year, many stores are finally closing their doors on Thanksgiving Day, and more bargain hunters are turning to online deals for their holiday shopping.

Carson City Power Outage affects approximately 100 NV Energy Customers Saturday

A power outage Saturday affected 108 Carson City residents, according to NV Energy.

Several homes and businesses were affected near N. Carson Street. The estimated time of restoration was at 5 p.m. according to NV Energy.

Four Quad-County businesses fined by OSHA for COVID-19 noncompliance, seven businesses total fined in Nevada

UPDATE: While the businesses at Topsy Lane have Carson City addresses, Topsy Lane is technically within the jurisdiction of Douglas County, bringing Carson City's fined businesses to 1, and Douglas County's to 2.

According to the Nevada Division of Industrial Relations, six Northern Nevada businesses were cited for failing to comply with COVID-19 safety guidelines, three of which were in Carson City.

The following is from the Sheriff's Office: Due to anticipated cold, wet, windy weather conditions Carson City Sheriff’s Office regrets to inform the community of the cancellation of the Cops and Kids Safe Streets Party which was scheduled for Saturday, May 18, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. According to the National Weather Service a slight chance of showers and potential for wind is predicted. Unfavorable weather conditions may cause significant disruption in the planned outdoor activities. The event cannot be relocated indoors as accommodations are limited. Staff of the Carson City Sheriff’s Office wishes to thank those interested in attending and appreciates the community’s support.
