University of Nevada graduates largest class to date
Submitted by Kelsey Penrose on Sat, 05/18/2019 - 9:17amThe University of Nevada, Reno through the weekend will be conferring 3,201 degrees, the most degrees ever distributed in one semester.
Due to inclement weather, all ceremonies were moved to the Lawlor Events Center instead of the University’s quad.

Submitted by Jeff Munson on Fri, 05/17/2019 - 6:00amCARSON CITY, Nev. — Artist Patricia Wallis has a background in plein air and aerial painting, having spent much of her 30-year career in Marin County, Calif.
Moving to Reno, she found a completely new palette of color in the landscape. Another change she made in in the past decade was a decision to work exclusively on copper, which gives the image a unique luminescence not found when working on canvas or board. Oil painting on copper goes back to the 15thcentury although it is rarely used by contemporary artists.
Carson City School District recognizes 22 with Distinguished Student Awards

24 to graduate Nevada's Police Officer Standards and Training; Douglas sheriff to keynote

State and Carson City School District partner to bring backpacks, supplies to homeless kids

The backpacks were filled with school supplies and hygiene items, 3-ring binders and an assortment of books.

Nevada receives grant to improve education outcomes for homeless school students
