Nevada Gov. Brian Sandoval signed Executive Order 2016-28 that orders all flags to fly at half-staff on Sunday, September 11 from sunrise to sunset in recognition of Patriot Day and National Day of Service and Remembrance for those victims of the terrorists attacks 15 years ago.

The Nevada State Fair returns to Carson City Thursday, June 9 and will occupy Mills Park until Sunday, June 12. Free to attend, the Fair features live music, carnival rides, a car show, County exhibits, civil war reenactments, and more. Free parking can be found at Carson High School.

Nevada’s welcome signs are about to get a complete refresh thanks to a Welcome to Nevada Design Contest. The contest, which is now underway, challenges Nevada’s high school artists to create official Welcome to Nevada signs that depict the Nevada brand and create a friendly welcome for travelers.

Nevada Gov. Brian Sandoval issued a statement Thursday regarding him being considered for the U.S. Supreme Court vacancy to replace Justice Scalia.

Carson City Mayor Bob Crowell, in collaboration with the Navy League of the United States Carson City Council, presented Gov. Sandoval with a commemorative coin depicting both the recently christened USNS Carson City and the historic USS Carson City, a Tacoma-class frigate commissioned by the U.S. Navy from 1944-1945.

Wildfire and invasive species weren't the only topics of this year's Lake Tahoe Summit held earlier this week. The future of transportation at the lake was also addressed with speakers affirming the need for improved roadways and access to alternative methods of transportation.

Northern Nevada Development Authority’s (NNDA) Executive Director Robert Hooper and a sub-delegation from the Sierra Region of Northern Nevada are in Lublin, Poland this week as part of Governor Sandoval’s European Trade Mission. The mission is part of an ongoing initiative to build relationships and grow Nevada’s international presence.

This is a letter I sent out to Gov. Sandoval, and multiple other State Representatives. I felt that the general public should know what our prison system is doing to multiple small business owners in Carson City and Nevada. I would be very pleased if someone would bring this to light and show what our tax dollars are doing in this economy.

Dear Governor Sandoval,

Businesses or government entities along U.S. Route 95 between Las Vegas and Reno have the opportunity to participate in electrifying Nevada’s highways. NV Energy and the Nevada Governor’s Office of Energy are looking for partners in key communities to provide electric vehicle owners the ability to drive and charge their vehicles between Reno and Las Vegas. This effort will include “fast-charge” technology, which is important for long-distance travel.

The Beagle Bill or “Calvin’s Law” and also known as SB 261, was signed into law Tuesday in Carson City by Nevada Gov. Brian Sandoval. The legislation requires dogs and cats from research facilities to be made available for adoption. It was authored by State Sen. Mark Manendo, in honor of Calvin, a beagle that was rescued from a research facility in California, rehabilitated and placed in a caring home.

The Nevada Senate voted on Gov. Brian Sandoval's tax plan today, with 18 yes votes, to three against. The legislation passed the Assembly Sunday night and now goes for the governor to sign.

A multi-state proclamation, signed by the Governors of Nevada, California, Idaho, Oregon, South Dakota, Utah and Montana, recognizes May 2015 as Wildfire Awareness Month and encourages all citizens to “learn to live safely in a wildfire environment.”

Nevada Governor Brian Sandoval has congratulated religious statesman Rajan Zed for four years of continuous publication of weekly interfaith column “Faith Forum” in a Gannett publication.

In a signed Certificate of Recognition presented to Zed, Governor Sandoval wrote: “Congratulations on this memorable milestone!”

“Faith Forum”, a highly popular one-of-a-kind weekly dialogue on religion at a Pulitzer winner Reno Gazette-Journal in Nevada, completed four years of publication on Feb. 4.

Carson Tahoe Health has issued the following statement regarding health services provided to prisoners in Nevada:

Carson Tahoe has been providing care to Nevada’s inmate population for many years. Previously the Nevada Department of Corrections (NDOC) covered the care of these prisoners through a private, third party insurer - Hometown Health Plan (HHP).

With the advent of the ACA, NDOC decided to do away with private insurance for its prisoners needing inpatient services.

Governor Brian Sandoval attended the St. Teresa Church Inaugural Mass Monday ahead of the inauguration ceremony at the Nevada State Capital Building. Mass was given by Bishop Randolph R. Calvo of Reno. The St. Teresa Schools students from the 3rd, 4th and 5th grades sang in the chorus. A special song was performed by the students for the Governor, "Home Means Nevada."
