Carson City Sheriff's Office among agencies to participate in Relay for Life

On May 21, 2016, the Carson City Sheriff’s Office will be participating in the American Cancer Society’s “Relay for Life” to be held at Mills Park from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. This year, more than 1.6 million individuals in the United States are expected to hear the words “You have cancer.”

Carson City Sheriff's Office gets baton in final leg of Law Enforcement Memorial Run

The Carson City Sheriff's Office was handed the baton this Wednesday afternoon in the final leg of the annual Law Enforcement Memorial Run which began April 27 in Las Vegas.

Each leg of the run is completed in the memory of each officer listed on the state law enforcement memorial in Carson City. The final leg is dedicated in memory of Carson City Sheriff's Deputy Carl Howell who died in the line of duty August 15, 2015.

Howell will be honored at the 19th annual Nevada Law Enforcement Officers Memorial ceremony Thursday, noon in Carson City.

The tournament is a scramble format, with a 9 a.m. shotgun start, at Eagle Valley Golf. Players can choose to play on either the East Course for the fun, or the West Course for the challenge.

Pop Warner Football and Cheer celebrates Friday Night Lights this Friday at Governors Field

Carson City Pop Warner Football and Cheer program practices are now underway. All levels are practicing Monday through Thursday. There will be a Friday Night Lights fundraising event this Friday, August 14 from 6-9 p.m. at Governors Field.

There will be music, food and vendors, games, bounce houses, face painting, balloons, and more. Our goal is to raise funds for our football and cheer program.

Rotary Club of Carson City gears up for April's Beer and Pizza Championships

Now considered a Carson City spring tradition, the Rotary Club of Carson City will play host to its fourth annual Carson City Beer and Pizza Championships at the Carson Mall on Saturday, April 25.

The community is welcomed to taste, judge and enjoy finely crafter beer brewed from around the region and piping hot fresh pizza tossed and baked from local restaurants. Sixteen respected craft beer brewers and microbreweries will offer their top selections to attendees as they compete for awards during the Championships.

Nevada 150 events lined up through the end of October

Many celebrations are scheduled throughout the Silver State in the month of October. These Nevada 150 events celebrate all things Nevada and help bring awareness to the 150th Anniversary of Statehood. The following events are held Oct. 16 through 30. Senator Square: Homecoming week, sports signups and senior spotlight

The annual tradition of Homecoming is upon us. There are many activities taking place this week, both athletic and non-athletic. Each day has a particular dress-up theme, a lunch time activity, and an evening time activity that students can participate. Tuesday’s dress up day is “crazy hat” day.

CASI K9 Fun Run and Walk is Saturday; Pooch Plunge at the Carson City Aquatic Center Sept. 27

Two CASI events coming up. First is the third annual Carson Animal Services Initiative's 5K9 fun run/walk at Riverview Park on East Fifth Street in Carson City on Saturday, Sept. 20. The following week is the Pooch Plunge.

Saturday's K9 Walk/Run fundraising event is a great way for families to show off their pets while giving them some exercise too. Awards will be given to the 1st place male and female K9 finishers. Every participant receives a free gift.
