Meet in the south parking lot for Fremont School on Saliman Road next to the Linear Ditch Trail.
Ride is free and will normally consist of two loops which are 10-15 miles long each, this will allow a rider to do 10-15 miles or 20-30 miles depending on the loops. The ride pace will vary depending on rider level, but will usually be about a 12-16 mph pace. This is a no drop ride. Carson City emergency crews were called to a vehicle accident Monday morning involving a 13-year-old juvenile male riding a bicycle that happened across from Fremont Elementary School.

Hold onto your broomstick, this weekend is bound to sweep you up in Halloween fun. First you’ll need a pumpkin. The Harvest Train Festival and Pumpkin Patch at the Nevada State Railroad Museum is a good place to start. Take the costumed kids to a Trunk or Treat at Advantage Auto Works off Old Hot Springs Road courtesy of the members of Carson Cruise Meet and Greet. Rummage sale fundraiser Saturday to help Cliff Bros Ranch lost in Little Valley Fire

There will be a rummage sale Saturday, Oct. 22 at Fremont Elementary School in Carson City with proceeds to assist the Cliff Bros Ranch in Washoe County that was destroyed in the Little Valley Fire.

School community dedicates Robin Ross Library and Reading Cove at Fremont Elementary

On Thursday, Sept. 8, 2016, Robin’s family, School Board trustees, staff members from throughout the district, retirees, and Fremont families met for the formal dedication of the Robin Ross Library.

Ms. Ross was a classroom teacher and literacy coach at Fremont Elementary for over 20 years. When she passed away last year after a lengthy illness, the staff and her retired colleagues wished to honor her memory.

Carson City resident lends perspective during power outage

In just the few minutes I stood with E.D. Crouser at the intersection of Highway 50 and College Parkway/Fairview Drive Wednesday afternoon, it seems like one chaotic event after another reigned down on motorists lined up dozens deep in the midst of widespread power outages that struck the area.

Power outage affects more than 12,400 NV Energy customers throughout Carson City

UPDATE 630PM: NV Energy reports a handful of outages with between 14-25 customers without power this evening in Carson City.

UPDATE 5PM: NV Energy reports 5,626 customers remain without power with the number of outages reduced to two in Carson City.
The outages are centered on South Carson Street and Stewart Street and Fairview and East Fifth Street. NV Energy says the power should be restored by 7:30 p.m. The power company posted this note on its web page:

Carson City Parks & Recreation Easy Walk to Sonoma Park

Note the change of time. Meet at 1003 Sonoma Street corner of Sonoma and Fremont. All walks required closed-toed shoes and water. Hat and sunscreen recommended.

Walks of 1 to 2 miles in length with none or negligible elevation gain, and frequently on paved and smooth paths. The walks will usually be of approximately 1 hour in duration, depending on the location.

As president of Fremont Elementary School’s parent-teacher association, Becky McGee shoulders a lot of responsibility. But she wouldn’t have it any other way.

“The kids make it worth it,” she said. “They way they all run up and get excited when they see me because they know something fun is going to happen.”

April events lined up at Fort Churchill State Historic Park

Fort Churchill State Historic Park is offering a variety of ranger-led programs during the month of April to highlight the area’s rich history and abundant natural resources.

Built in 1861 to provide protection for early settlers, Fort Churchill was once an active U.S. Army fort. it was abandoned nine years later. Today the ruins are preserved in a state of arrested decay. A visitor center displays information and artifacts of the fort’s history.

Carson City weekend arrest log: Man admits to stealing equipment from former employer

A 56-year-old Carson City man was arrested Sunday after admitting to breaking into the maintenance yard of his former employer to steal material goods to use on his own home, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

Celebrate the New Year with Hikes at Dayton, Washoe Lake and Fort Churchill State Parks

As the holiday season approaches, participants from Carson City Parks and Recreation’s Kids Klub programs were invited to share in the giving spirit.

This past week, children from the Carson City Parks and Recreation joined the Ron Wood Family Resource Center in their yearly non-perishable food drive. Beginning on Monday, Dec. 7, participants in the Kids Klub after school programs begin bringing in their much needed donations in hopes of helping others have a happier holiday season.
