With the weather reaching the mid-80s, now is the perfect time to get out and explore during a jam-packed three days around the Carson City region. Friday has plenty of events to get you to the weekend.

The Carson City Parks, Recreation & Open Space in partnership with the Carson City Weed Coalition would like to invite the public to join us on June 8th, 2019 from 9 a.m. - 11 a.m. to pull a variety of invasive plants, including: musk thistle, poison hemlock and bull thistle.

Good morning Carson City, and happy June! We have a ton of events going on today in our beloved capital city, with the June wine walk, the first day of the farmer’s market, a brew fest at Fuji park, and more! With a high of 75, it’s shaping up to finally start to feel like summer (knock on wood).

Heading into a jam-packed weekend of events around the Carson City region, there's a bevy of activities Friday to get your started. Lace up your shoes for a morning walk at Riverview Park, and then head on over to the Nevada State Museum for a coin press demonstration, and tours that explore anthropology and Nevada history. Later there's a cruise night gathering at Carson Mall to benefit Safe Grad Night, an Italian dinner fundraiser at the Governor's Mansion to benefit Carson City's homeless, live music at Living the Good Life and A to Zen, laughs at the Carson Comedy Club, and much more. Thirty-two employees who have worked a collective 671 years with the Carson City School District will retire this year. The retirees were recognized at the school board meeting Tuesday, May 28.

As we head into a jam-packed Memorial Day weekend, activities and events around Carson City on Friday will help set the mood for what promises to be a tremendous few days ahead. Festivities include the opening day of the Rockin’ Rib Fest at Carson City's Casino Fandango, the planting of American flags on the graves of our fallen veterans at Lone Mountain Cemetery, a weekly open mic night at A to Zen, laughs at the Carson Comedy Club, live music and more.

Good morning Carson City, and happy Sunday! I'm sorry to tell you we're going to have another sad-weather day, with scattered showers, a high of 52 and a low of 34. But maybe mother nature is just trying to add a little extra water to the lakes and rivers before shutting down for a hot summer? On the docket today we have a pollinator garden site work day, the final performance of Western Nevada Musical Theatre's "Crazy for You" and a National Adoption Weekend event at Petsmart with Res-Que, so stop by and give those pups a snuggle!

Elementary schools in the Carson City School District will host individual school site welcome events for all transitioning preschoolers and incoming kindergarteners. The events are designed for students and parents to tour their new school, meet teachers and administrators and build on the fun and excitement about going to school.

The Carson City School District took time at the School Board meeting Tuesday night to recognize 22 students with the “Distinguished Student Award.” The student winners were selected by administrators and recognized in pairs from their respective schools as having specific qualities, skills and characteristics that distinguished them.

Happy Mother's Day Carson City! It's going to be a hot one today with a high of 82 and a low of 47. The 2019 Vacancy Study for Carson City has been released, showing a growing trend of low vacancies, especially in multi-family residential complexes and industrial space.

According to the study, however, there are several projects either underway or waiting for approval, including new apartment complexes, industrial buildings, school expansions, a dog boarding facility, and more.

As the sun is starting to emerge in Carson City, so too are the bicycles. “I’m already hearing from people that they’re getting their bikes out of the garage,” said Randy Gaa, president of Muscle Powered, the nonprofit organization dedicated to a walkable and bikeable community.

CARSON CITY — Nicolas Jacques, music teacher at Carson Middle School, was honored last night as the Carson City School District’s Educator of the Year. Additionally, James “Jim” Pike, special needs school bus driver for transportation, was recognized as the Education Support Professional (ESP) Employee of the Year for the district.

Carson City's Pokemon Go! club gave back to the community on Monday by meeting up for a trash cleanup, while also catching some Pokemon.

Step outside, go for a bike ride, walk or hike and take in the available sunshine while it lasts as another chance of rain showers are headed our way by Tuesday. Stay tuned.

Welcome Carson City to Sunday, March 31, 2019. The last day of the month will bring sunny skies and a daytime high somewhere in the low 60s. Ideal spring weather before the next system arrives Monday bringing with it warmer temperatures but showers as well. Today there's art gallery showings, two children's theater performances, a bike ride and a tour of the stone Wungnema House at Mills Park.

Two upcoming dances offered by two Carson City schools are aimed at family participation, with parents serving as dance partners to their children.

There is something about the start of Spring that makes Sundays seem more pleasant; despite the fact that the weekend is on its downhill slide. There are always pleasant things to do in Carson City come rain, snow, wind or shine.

Fremont Elementary School PTA is hosting our First Mother & Son Dance! This event is open to all ages in our community. The dance will be on April 12 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Governor's Mansion located at 606 Mountain Street in Carson City.

Ride will normally consist of two loops which are 10-15 miles long each. The ride pace will vary depending on rider level, but will usually be about a 12-16 mph pace. This is a "no drop" ride so no one is left behind.

All riders must have a bicycle in safe working condition, a helmet, and closed toed shoes.
