The days keep moving along, ever closer to the weekend and huge helpings of Christmas holiday activities. A 50-year-old flooding issue in a Carson City neighborhood could finally see a solution with the “North Carson Area Drainage Plan” proposed by Carson City Public Works.

According to Robert Fellows, P.E., Chief Stormwater Engineer for Public Works, an issue involving flooding or “ponding” in a particular Carson City neighborhood has been on the books as an issue since Carson City was still Ormsby County, going back to the 1970s.

Carson Tahoe Care Center invites community members to grab their cameras and join residents and guests for pictures with Santa on Saturday, Dec. 7 from 9 a.m. to noon. Capture the holiday spirit with personalized Santa photos, complete with a Winter Wonderland backdrop and holiday refreshments.

Carson Now has partnered with Carson City's Parks, Recreation and Open Space's first annual "Homestead Holidays" to offer a Letters to Santa writing campaign.

Download your Letters to Santa form from Carson Now, and you can send it off to the big man at the magical North Pole mailbox, which will be available for letters during the Homestead Holidays celebration Dec. 13-15, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., at Silver Saddle Ranch in Carson City.

Admission is free, donations welcome.

The Nevada State Railroad Museum in Carson City launches its 35th year of Santa Train the weekend of Dec. 7 and tickets are available online and at the museum’s depot now.

With Thanksgiving leftovers winding down, we're winding up to the second day in December and the first day of the work week ahead, with activities lined up through the weekend. We bring the holidays to you, performing in Gardnerville and Genoa, as well as north and south Lake Tahoe and Reno. Featured speaker at Monday's Democratic luncheon will be Kennan Peterson, regional organizer for the Tom Steyer presidential campaign. In 2013 he finished his degree in Political Science and International Relations at Beloit College in Beloit Wisconsin, his hometown. In the summer of 2014, he was hired as a field organizer for the Wisconsin Democrats' mid-term coordinated campaign.

The new Telegraph Plaza Sign was unveiled Saturday during Small Business Saturday celebrations with free pizza and a raffle, the prizes of which were generously donated by local businesses.

The raffle will continue through 2 p.m. Saturday afternoon, and each ticket is a dollar. Get down to Telegraph Square soon to enter!

The last Thursday of November means a big gobble gobble, Happy Thanksgiving to all. Enjoy in the games, festivities, activities at home and outdoors. Events are at a minimum, for obvious reasons, but the two big ones are traditions for us in the capital city. The Carson City Turkey Trot at the Governor's Mansion and the free Carson Nugget Thanksgiving community dinner. Enjoy your day and any slight break in the weather. More winter storms are on the way.
