Carson Properties was welcomed by the national nonprofit, Pets of the Homeless as a new donation site. Donations of pet food and supplies can be taken to 187 Sonoma St., Carson City that will be delivered to a local food bank, homeless shelter or homeless encampment.

Genevieve Frederick, founder of Pets of the Homeless and sponsor of the clinic, announced that 73 pets where seen and are now safe from infectious diseases. Food Drive for Dayton Food Pantry Gets 2017 Off to a Good Start

A “Stuff a Police Car with Food Donations” event was held at Smith’s Grocery in Dayton on Jan. 7 for the Dayton Food Pantry.

Alie Trier, Dayton Food Pantry manager, said “I was amazed by all the cases of tuna and soup and other food donated — more than $4,500 worth of food, plus $612 in cash, was donated. We’re grateful for the hard work of Pantry volunteers and the Lyon Sheriff’s Department and the VIPs (Volunteers in Policing), and for the generosity of Smith’s Grocery Store, and residents of the Dayton area. Together, they made this event very successful.”

Dayton, Nevada – Healthy Communities Coalition’s Dayton Food Pantry, located on Enterprise Way and Highway 50 in Dayton, will remain open during its normal hours of 10a.m. - 4p.m. Monday through Thursday during the holidays.

The distribution of USDA Commodities will continue as normal on the 3rd Saturday of each month at Sutro Elementary from noon to 3pm.

Manager Alie Trier notes that volunteers of all ages are warmly welcomed.

Save Mart to match in-store donations to Ron Wood Food Bank Friday

Save Mart Supermarkets in Carson City will match in-store donations Friday to the Ron Wood Family Resource Center.

For the past month, Carson City shoppers have been able to donate to Ron Wood at checkout through Save Mart Companies' "Give.Share.CARE! Holiday Drive," said company spokeswoman Nanette Miranda.

Guests can play Halloween games, enjoy treats, and get their pictures taken with Reno Aces baseball mascot Archie from 3:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. There is no charge to attend, and the branch is also collecting canned food to benefit the Food Bank of Northern Nevada from those who would like to donate.
