Pick your poison, Carson City. Art, music, politics, film, hiking: all are available today. CCAI brings us a Nevada Neighbors talk with one of the artists featured in the Nevada Museum of Art. The Wired Wednesday group has a workshop for filmmakers in time for the upcoming creepy film festival and competition. Local candidates can be found at the BAC Performance Hall in the first of three voters' forums. It's hard to miss the new 'Home Means Nevada' mural on the side of CAL Ranch at Winnie Lane; the opening ceremony for our newest piece of art is at 2 p.m.

What a day Carson City has in store. Jazz and Poetry hits Comma Coffee tonight as the Mile High Jazz Band puts on their monthly performance. The Community Development building on East Proctor, formerly the 'BRIC', hosts an artist reception for the talented students in the Capital City Arts Initiative 'High School Pic[ks]' show.

It's going to be toasty today. Luckily, weekly Parks and Rec 'Easy Walk' starts at 8 a.m., so you'll be off the trail before the sun gets too far overhead. The Brewery Arts Center hosts the Carson City Classic Cinema Club the first Tuesday of each month; join them this evening for trivia and a showing of John Wayne's 'Stagecoach.' Dance the night away to the sounds of big band or cowboys: swing dance lessons are at El Charro Avita, while country line dancing can be found in the Eleventh Frame Lounge at Carson Lanes.

Happy Anniversary, Mile High Jazz Band. Every second Tuesday they play a concert at Comma Coffee, and have for fifteen years. Help them celebrate. Grab your dancing shoes and head to Carson Lanes and learn some country line dancing. Kids won’t want to miss Craft Day at the Carson City Library: all supplies are free and waiting. It’s an evening of illusion at the Brewery Arts Center. Be dazzled and help raise funds for the Carson Middle School Band Program.

National Pancake Day at IHOP means a free short stack; but they are hoping you’ll donate to the Children’s Miracle Network. Jazz and Poetry take over Comma Coffee this evening; the Mile High Jazz Band can be found there every second Tuesday all year long. Get your fro-yo fix at Yogurt Beach and help raise funds for the annual Relay for Life fundraiser. A great panel of women will be at the Dayton Community Center this evening to share their experiences growing up on the Comstock.

Doug 'Mac the Naw' Busey's Lake Tahoe and Sierra fishing report

Hello fellow anglers, there's a lot going on in our local fishing world, despite the weather. With Topaz Lake opening up and the higher lakes having good ice on them this year.

I've had as many reports this last week as I would in the middle of May. Before we get to our reports, I would like to do a little education about ice conditions in our area. Our local weather temperatures have been extremely cold during the end of last year and into this year.
