On Thursday, March 19, the wonderful owners of Pizza Factory will donate 20 percent of the entire day's earnings back to EVMS. All you have to do is call for delivery, dine in or carry out (775-882-9800) some amazing pizzas, calzones, pastas or wings.

The athletics program at Western Nevada College is facing drastic cuts. A group is forming to seek ways to fundraise and keep our Wildcats in the game. Head over to the Legislature Building this morning at 10 a.m.; you’re looking for room 2149.

The Carson City youth CPAC girl’s soccer program has an opportunity to compete in an international tournament in Canada during the FIFA Women’s World Cup, June 6 through July 5 in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.

We have almost made it to the weekend. Let visions of the Downtown Wine Walk, CASI’s Woof, Wine, and Whiskers, and the kick-off of Carson Comedy at the Carson Nugget keep you buoyant until then. Today is National Pancake Day, so head over to the International House of Pancakes for your free short stack and donate to this year’s charity, the Children’s Miracle Network. Come celebrate Science, technology, engineering, arts and math Thursday, March 5 at Eagle Valley Middle School with its STEM/STEAM Night 2015. See the Carson City students use STEAM in the class and learn about thethe possibilities of STEAM in college and career choices.

Grab your dance shoes and kick up your heels at a beginning swing dance lesson at El Charro’s tonight. The High Sierra Swing Dance Club hosts its monthly Swing Dance Party in the Ballroom of the Brewery Arts Center Saturday night. If you prefer to dance in cowboy boots, you can learn Country Line and Partner Dancing at the 11th Frame Lounge in Carson Lanes every Tuesday and Wednesday night.

Eagle Valley Middle School (EVMS) has a rich history and remains determined and focused to provide quality educational opportunities to the families it serves. Looking forward with its success from the past, EVMS is involved in a number of current endeavors, two of which will be highlighted here.

Gung Hay Fat Choy! Happy Chinese New Year; welcome to the year of yang, which could be a goat, a sheep, or a ram, depending on the translation. Time to reunite with family and loved ones and celebrate spring. New York City got in on the festivities with its first ever fireworks display for the Lunar New Year; I've included a YouTube video, just in case fireworks really are lucky.

The Pizza Factory on Hwy 50 East is holding a fundraiser for Eagle Valley Middle School today. 20% of the day’s proceeds will benefit their Parent Teacher Organization.

It is that time of the month again for us to ask for your support and help with a fundraiser to benefit Eagle Valley Middle School. On Thursday, Feb. 19 from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. The Pizza Factory on Highway 50 East will be hosting "Eagle Valley Day" in which 20 percent of the entire day's earnings will go back to EVMS PTO to help with Student Lead Conferences.

Our staff works hard to provide our students with the education they need to get good grades and go farther in their education.

Don’t miss the Mile High Jazz Band at their monthly appearance at Comma Coffee tonight, make sure to bring your sweetheart. Today at the Legislature, they will be celebrating Nevada Tribes. A cultural presentation is in Room 3100 if you want to learn more about the Native people of the Great Basin.

TUESDAY:

This may be ‘the day that music died’ back in 1959, but Carson City wants you to find your dancing shoes tonight. Beginning swing dance lessons will be held at El Charro Avitas; go check out their brand new dance floor. Country Line dancing is taught at the 11th Frame lounge at Carson Lanes every Tuesday and Wednesday. Jimmy Mallett and Jack Clifton will be at Living the Good Life Nightclub and Bistro channeling all the swank of the rat pack.

Thanks to Muscle Powered and the Carson City Parks and Recreation Department, Tuesdays are a good day to go for walk and explore some great trails and paths around town. You can find the schedule online here, and I always include them in my list.

It’s a Jazz Extravaganza tonight as the Mile High Jazz Band teams up with Carson High School’s Jazz Band at the Community Center.

The Tuesday after a day off can feel like a Monday, but it does make the week go by quickly. It’s back to school for those attending Western Nevada College, and maybe back to work for some of those who attend the Greater Nevada Credit Union’s Job Fair today.

It is time again to help both our middle school and local businesses out. On Thursday, Jan. 15 between 10 a.m. and 10 p.m., the Pizza Factory on Highway 50 East will donate 20 percent of the entire day's earnings back to Eagle Valley Middle School's Parent Teacher Organization.

We are trying to save up money to help purchase incentive prizes for the State Assessment Tests for our students. Please either dine in, call for delivery or pick up some awesome pizzas, pastas, sandwiches or chicken wings while donating back to our school.

This Thursday is both National Strawberry Ice Cream Day and National Hat Day. You may want some ice cream for your vocal cords after you hit the Karaoke circuit; Jimmy G’s Cigar Bar, Caterpillar’s Hookah Lounge, and the Feisty Goat Pub all want to see you wearing your performing hat tonight. On a more local level, today also brings the annual State of the State address delivered by our Governor, Brian Sandoval.

It’s National Rubber Ducky Day! I have no idea how that is relevant to anything, but now I've got the ‘Rubber Ducky’ song from Sesame Street in my head. It’s also Stephen Foster Memorial Day, so feel free to sing ‘Camptown Races’, one of the prolific song-writer’s most famous songs, instead. Keep the musical theme going today with the Carson Feet Warmers during lunch and the Mile High Jazz Band playing this evening, both at Comma Coffee.

The kids are back in school, the workweek is underway, but Carson City still stays fun. Check out the Carson City Classic Cinema Club at Red’s Old 395 tonight as they show Rudyard Kipling’s The Jungle Book, get your swing on at El Charro Avita’s, or take a hike with Muscle Powered up Prison Hill.

'Tis the Season, Carson City! Holiday cheer is in the wind, and we have plenty of wind right now. This weekend is jam-packed with food and toy drives, concerts, and Santa-sightings, so bundle up and have a fun time enjoying our great city.

This Thursday, November 20th, from 10 am to 10 pm is Eagle Valley Day at Pizza Factory on HWY 50. Please come down and dine in, pick up or have delivered some AWESOME pizzas, wings, sub sandwiches or pastas and the generous owners of PF will donate 20% of the entire day's earnings to the EVMS PTO.
This month's funds will go back towards purchasing snacks for the entire student body during SBAC exams.

Friends in Service Helping, also known as FISH, will begin its annual “Trick or Treat for FISH” food drive Wednesday, Oct. 15. Carson City schools will participate in a contest for the students to collect non-perishable food to replenish the inventory at the FISH food bank. The food drive will run until Nov. 3 and will give FISH a boost for the high demand of the holiday season.

It is that time of the month again where you can come into Pizza Factory and help raise funds for our students and staff at Eagle Valley Middle School.

On Thursday, Oct. 16, 20 percent of the entire day's earnings will go towards our school's library this month. Many students cannot afford to purchase books or necessary literacy supplies that enable them to get a good education. And due to budget cuts, our admin is limited on what funds can and cannot be spent on.
