CARSON CITY — Beginning Sunday, March 18, the Nevada Department of Transportation is scheduled to begin overnight single lane closures as part of an ongoing project to install a traffic signal on U.S. 395 at Airport Road and improve other highway intersections in the Carson Valley.

Some light snowfall arrived in Carson City early Thursday evening, dropping temperatures and bringing some accumulation along the foothill roadways by commute time.

Carson City and Nevada’s law enforcement officers participating in the Joining Forces program will be working to keep the roads safe by watching for drivers exceeding speed limits. This Joining Forces enforcement will take place Friday through March 18.

A second ambulance has been ordered and two Care Flight helicopters have been called to the scene.

Traffic is affected, especially the southbound lanes of South Carson Street.

Drivers are advised to avoid area and seek alternate routes of travel.
