Annual Earth Spirit Faire at Carson City Community Center this weekend

Dozens of vendors are expected in celebration of Earth at the annual Earth Spirit Faire held this year at the Carson City Community Center this Saturday and Sunday, April 29 - 30. The faire runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Carson City Community Center.

Silver City Post Office Hosts Display on Resident Artist Program

Silver City, Nevada - The Silver City Post Office, established in 1860, has a display case with changing collections that highlight local history as well as current programs.

Display of Work by Visiting Artists: For those who missed a December 2016 show featuring the artwork, essays, poems, assemblages, and photographs created by visiting artists at the Resident Artist Program in Silver City, some of the pieces are on display at the Silver City Post Office through March.

Telecommuting: Getting to Work Whatever the Weather

Last month, the Carson River breached its banks, crossed a major highway, and transformed commutes up and down the Carson Valley from Reno to Minden, turning a twenty- or thirty-minute scenic drive into a three- or four-hour ordeal.

Then, a series of winter storms dropped over ten feet of snow in parts of the Lake Tahoe Basin. Emergency officials advised residents in both areas to shelter in place to avoid the flood or the blizzard—and for some who live in the valley and work in the basin (or vice versa) — both.

The Capital City Arts Initiative announces its exhibition, "ART from WNC", at the Community Development Building [the Brick], 108 E Proctor Street, Carson City. Carson City Fire Chief: Arson likely responsible for fires at historic Foreman-Roberts House

UPDATE 4:15PM From Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong: The Carson City Fire Department and Sheriff’s Office responded to two arson-related fires at the Foreman-Roberts House Museum over the weekend. The first fire was reported on Sunday morning at approximately 2:34 a.m., damaging primarily the east side of the structure. On Monday morning at approximately 4:29 a.m., another fire was reported, this time the origin site was located on the south side of the building. The two incidents have resulted in moderate damage to the building.
