Carson City Toyota hosts drive-thru food drive Thursday to help feed local families

On Thursday, Oct. 15, Carson City Toyota will host the second “Drive by Donation” Food Drive to benefit Friends In Service Helping, also known as FISH, which gives support to families and people in need by providing food, instruction, shelter and health care.

Carson City's Browsers Corner Book Store kicks off grand reopening Saturday

The Carson City Symphony, directed by David Bugli, will open its 37th season with a virtual community music and dance project celebrating Carson City history, the “Hank Monk Schottische” virtual performance project. Instrumental musicians and dancers of all ages are invited to participate.

Dayton Library to host 3rd annual Trunk-or-Treat

The Dayton Library will be hosting their 3rd annual trunk-or-treat on Wednesday October 28th, 2020 from 5:30 PM - 7:30 PM. This year's event will be a contact-less drive-thru. We are still in need of volunteers to decorate their cars and pass out candy. We are also accepting donations of candy through October 23rd. If you are interested in participating or you have questions about the event, please contact library staff by calling (775) 246-6212.

Sierra Nevada Realtors give time, donations back to rural communities

Earlier this month, members of Sierra Nevada Realtors spent time improving their communities all throughout the region. The annual Realtors Give Back event was special this year because it also included areas outside of Carson City. Members participated in community service as a group in Dayton and gave a generous monetary donation to the Fallon Youth Club and to the Boys and Girls Club of Carson City.

While we have appreciated the support of our loyal fans, our business — like many others in our community — has been challenged with the fallout of the pandemic.

The next event, A Day at the Ranchette, is today, Sunday, September 20, 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., features the Sagebrush Rebels. This event was moved from Silver Saddle Ranch, and in-person attendance is sold out. However, it will be live-streamed on Facebook by A to Zen Media in Carson City. Greater Nevada Credit Union contributes $30,000 to Fire Disaster Relief

CARSON CITY — To assist with disaster relief during this devastating fire season, Greater Nevada Credit Union has donated $30,000 to three different credit unions coordinating relief efforts in California and Oregon. Rogue Credit Union Foundation in Medford, Ore.; Redwood Credit Union Community Fund in Santa Rosa, Calif.; and Sierra Central Credit Union in Yuba City, Calif. will each receive $10,000 to assist with ongoing relief efforts.

City of Sparks announces passing of Mayor Ron Smith

After an almost two-year battle with pancreatic cancer, Sparks Mayor Ron Smith has died. He was 71 years old.

Mayor Smith was officially sworn in as the 25th Mayor of Sparks on November 13, 2018. He was elected to the Sparks City Council in November 2006 and was re-elected to four-year terms in 2008, 2012 and 2016. He served as Sparks Mayor Pro Tempore from 2012-2018.

The Mile High Jazz Band Association presents a jazz-related drive-in movie, “High Society,” on Wednesday, August 19, and Thursday, August 20, as part of the 2020 Jazz & Beyond Festival.

It will be shown in the parking lot of the Brewery Arts Center Performance Hall, 511 W. King Street, in Carson City. Admission is free. Show time is available when calling for reservations, which are required for each vehicle and can be made by calling 775-883-4154.
