Nevada schoolchildren can participate in International Walk to School Day
Submitted by editor on Mon, 09/25/2017 - 10:04pmCARSON CITY, Nev. – Many Nevada schoolchildren will take part in organized events to walk or bicycle to school on Oct. 4 in recognition of International Walk to School Day. Children not taking part in an organized school event are encouraged to involve their family in safely walking or bicycling to school on that Wednesday and other days.

Class meets for two and a half hours on Fridays, for six weeks. The first class is on May 19 and meets from 9:45 to 12:30 pm at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 1201 N. Saliman Rd., Carson City. The class covers monitoring blood sugar; coping with anger, fear and frustration; communication with health care professionals, family, and friends; use of medications; relaxation techniques; healthy eating; physical activity and more.

Helen Elaine Templeton, 68, After a long battle with cancer, went to be with the Lord on Monday, January 2, 2017. She leaves behind her husband, John Templeton of Carson City, Nevada, brother Randy Cox, her children and bonus-children Carla (Tom), Heidi (Mike), Landon (Rachael), Mitty (John), Bonnie (Herb), and Glenn (Kim). Helen’s life was also filled with love from her many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

This program consists of 16 weekly sessions plus 6 monthly sessions. Enrollment fee is $40, each session is $10 and payment plans are available.
