United Federal Credit Union has donated more than $1,100 to local families and organizations across Northern Nevada during the 2018 Pay It Forward initiative.

Beginning Tuesday, Nov. 27 until Dec. 11, 2018 Home Instead Senior Care and Center for Healthy Aging have set up their trees, and placed the tags for our seniors.

These are seniors, who are in homes, and have no one to celebrate the holidays with. Our community from Carson City to Dayton and in between have been absolutely wonderful by getting a tag, and filling the wishes for our Seniors here.

We have trees set up at Dayton Smith's, Paradise Salon, Les Schwab and United Federal Credit Union (off of Topsy), and AAA.

National Honor Society President Eleanor Sturm made her opening remarks at the annual NHS induction ceremony Sept. 17 in the CHS Big Gym. At Silver Oak Golf Course, the Brown Boys, Dale Brown, Nate Brown, Jose Del Real, and Steve McIntyre took top honors at the recent Carson City Soroptimist Stroke to Help Golf Tournament, with a score of 44 in the scramble-format game.

Know Your Ballot Carson City: Question 2, Feminine Hygiene Tax Exemption

In the upcoming midterm election Nevada voters will be faced a question of tax exemption. If adopted, Question 2 would create a state and local sales tax exemption for feminine hygiene products.

Dawnyel Ray is New Branch Manager of Greater Nevada Credit Union’s Dayton Branch

Dawnyel Ray has been named the new Branch Manager of Greater Nevada Credit Union’s (GNCU) Dayton Branch located at 555 U.S. Highway 50 East, Dayton.

Ray joins GNCU with more than seven years of banking experience, including previous roles as an assistant branch manager and a personal banker. She also has six years of management experience within the car rental business.

“I am looking forward to the opportunity to strengthen and grow our relationships in the Dayton community and to help my new team inspire one another,” Ray said.

Senator Square: Carson High School seniors celebrate their sunrise

The Carson High School senior class of 2019 arose early, not an easy task for a high school student, to celebrate the rising of the sun on this their final year of high school. A tradition that began decades ago at CHS has seniors jumping out of bed still wearing their pajamas, grabbing their blankets, and heading off to the CHS football field to arrive by 6 a.m.
