This Saturday is all about film appreciation around the area. The Carson City International Film Festival wraps up today inside the newly renovated Bob Boldrick Theater at the Carson City Community Center, while the Tahoe Adventure Film Festival occurs at CVIC Hall in Minden.
Carson City’s Wheel House to sponsor family-friendly Skate Jam 6

The event will be held at Jub Jub’s Thirst Parlor in Reno, located at 71 S. Wells Avenue, from noon to midnight.

Black History Program at Adams Hub Feb. 21

According to Michael Smith, CEO of First Choice Consulting, a premier educational consultant firm will present a video screening titled "Educating Black Boys" after the 30 minute video screening there will be a discussion and reflections opportunity.
Immediately afterward the video screening, attendees will have an opportunity to sample soul food delicacies prepared by members of the community.

The grant money provides out-of-school-time supports for at-risk students. At risk, a broad term in this grant, includes students who are at risk of not passing a class, at risk of becoming truant, or just in need of a safe-place after school.

Today we'll see a slight chance of rain and snow after 10 a.m. with mostly cloudy skies and a high near 46. Saturday we are looking at partly sunny skies and a high in the low 50s.

Leo Cardoza, who killed 19-year-old Desiree Bragg in 2013, sentenced to 10-25 years in prison

What happened next is debated, but the end result cannot be argued: Desiree Bragg, as she attempted to exit her car and get into her mother’s house, was crushed against the garage door by Cardoza’s car, and killed.

Stephen F. Sisolak, Nevada's first Democratic governor in two decades, was elected on Nov. 6, 2018. He will take the oath of office on the front steps of the Capitol Monday at 11:30 a.m., according to his inauguration web site.

Caroline, Martin come to the rescue as Nevada beats Akron
Submitted by Isaiah Burrows on Sat, 12/22/2018 - 9:43pmJordan Caroline and Caleb Martin each scored 19 points as the 12-0 Nevada Wolf Pack held on for a 68-62 victory over the Akron Zips on Saturday night in their last contest of 2018, but it wasn’t without some familiar consternation.
Akron came into Lawlor Events Center with the NCAA’s 18th ranked scoring defense, limiting opponents to 39 percent from the floor and 31 percent from distance. Their record included four losses, but only by a combined 12 points.
