Carson City's newest poke restaurant, 'The Poke Beach,' is now open for business

Carson City's newest poke restaurant, The Poke Beach, is now open for business in their location at 1442 E. William Street Unit 2 next to Starbucks.

The new restaurant has been under construction since April, but now they are officially open for business. It is the second restaurant of its kind in the Carson City area.

Board of Supervisor's meeting to discuss several new Carson City subdivision plans

The upcoming Board of Supervisor’s meeting will be held on Thursday, Sept. 19 beginning at 8:30 a.m. in the Sierra Room of the Carson City Community Center located at 851 E. William Street.

On the table for discussion are grant funding for the Sheriff’s Office, a new public guardian, and several new subdivision discussions.

Fremont Elementary School hosts ribbon cutting unveiling new classrooms Friday

Fremont Elementary and local dignitaries hosted a Ribbon Cutting ceremony Friday, Sept. 13, to celebrate the newly added classrooms and square footage completed from construction over the summer.

The ceremony also helped kick off the school's annual Fall Festival where dozens of community partners, sponsors and the school offered information, food, a raffle with over 30 prizes, and tons of fun for students and families.

Nevada jobs were up in July, unemployment see slight increase

CARSON CITY — July employment in Nevada was up 5,200 over the month and 43,400 over the year. The state’s unemployment rate is at 4.1 percent, up 0.1 percent point from June, and down 0.4 percent compared to last July, according to the state's Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation’s economic report released Wednesday.

Carson and Stewart Street Roundabout in final, 90 percent design phase

The hotly debated proposed Stewart Street and Carson Street roundabout is in its final design phase according to Carson City via its website Carson Proud, and was presented to the the Redevelopment Authority Citizens Committee, which helped fund the project, during a meeting held Monday.

"This is a major milestone for the project team and one more step toward the start of the construction stage scheduled to begin (by) the end of the year," said the website.

Provide water for wild horses! Phase II Bella Vista Ranch development

Horse advocates are asking people to send this letter to the Reno City Council.

Dear Ms/Sir:

Phase II of the Bella Vista Ranch development (between South Meadows Parkway and Rio Wrangler Parkway is approved.

The 77-acre housing development will fence off several hundred horses from their only water source as soon as construction begins.

The development plan (p. 75) originally called for maintaining the horses access to water, but that provision has since been removed and there is no alternative plans for ensuring the horses' access to water!
