Intoxicated Carson City man jailed after pushing firefighter, threatening deputy

A 25-year-old Carson City man was arrested Sunday evening in the 6900 block of Bigelow Drive for resisting a public officer, a misdemeanor, and battery on a firefighter, a gross misdemeanor, a Carson City sheriff's deputy said.

As a part of community service, we will be collecting dog food and pet supplies for PETS OF THE HOMELESS.

Dr. Melissa Jones of Carson City Orthodontics has given over 30 scholarships for free orthodontia work to deserving youth in Carson City since 2012. All she asks in return? For the recipient to perform community service hours as a “smile ambassador.”

Adulting 101: Carson City JAG program teaches career skills, communication and self-advocacy

Jobs for America’s Graduates, also known as JAG, is a program across the country that teaches life skills to high school students, so that they can be prepared for the work force after graduation. However, Carson City’s own Pioneer High School’s JAG instructor, Chyanne Corley, has taken that idea farther. She teaches her students not only to be prepared for the work force, but to become confident, well rounded adults.

Applications accepted for 2019 Nevada Promise Scholarship, covers tuition and fees

CARSON CITY — Wednesday marked the opening day to apply for the Nevada Promise Scholarship. High school students graduating from a Nevada high school in spring 2019, who plan to attend Western Nevada College in fall 2019, must apply for the scholarship no later than October 31, 2018, to be eligible.

The fundraiser for Advocates to End Domestic Violence fills the streets with tasty treats from over 40 local restaurants, several bands, and fun for the entire community; it’s the best party of the summer.

Aktion Club Donates Flowers To Brookdale Senior Living

The Kiwanis Aktion Club of Carson Valley recently completed a community service project in an effort to help brighten the days of some of the community's senior citizen population.

Over the course of the month of June, the Aktion Club painted 30 flower pots and planted live flowers in them. In early July, the flowers were donated to Brookdale Senior Living in Gardnerville to be distributed to the residents there.

Volunteers from Carson Valley Medical Center assisted club members with the planting on July 2.
