Empty Bowls Fundraising Event is back in Carson City Dec. 2

Save the Date! Come to support those less fortunate in your community and enjoy a hot meal before or after the tree lighting at the Capital.

Artisans and volunteers have been working hard throughout the year, creating some very special projects to choose as a reminder there are many empty bowls in our community.

Empty Bowls takes place Friday, Dec. 2 from 4 to 7 p.m. inside the Carson Mall.

The cost to attend is a $15 donation which includes a special handmade bowl and dinner.

All proceeds benefit the FISH Food Bank and Family Dining Room in Carson City.

Festival of Lights, Project Empty Bowls, Santa train and more: Carson City region readies for festive weekend

Heading into the weekend, there’s a bevy of holiday events around the Carson City region over the next three days. Events include the Silver and Snowflake Festival of Lights, the 24th annual Parade of Lights in Gardnerville, the annual Project Empty Bowls dinner held at the Carson Mall, a Holiday Crawl in downtown Carson City and much more! For the Grownups: Holiday Crawl Saturday in downtown Carson City to benefit Holiday with a Hero

With family activities making up the Christmas tree lighting at the capitol on Friday night, Saturday night is reserved for grownups who are invited to take a festive walk through downtown Carson City and make stops and their favorite restaurants and bars as part of a community fundraiser for local schoolchildren who are without permanent homes.

Carson City Firehouse Subs hold fundraiser for families displaced in May 16 apartment fire

Firehouse Subs in Carson City will hold a community fundraiser Wednesday for the families of Pioneer High and Eagle Valley Middle School students who were displaced in a May 16 structure fire at a Pheasant Drive apartment that burned four residences.

Don't miss the final day of hot rods and chrome at the Silver Dollar Car Classic in Mills Park. Summer weekends make me wish I had a clone. With all the hustle and bustle in town, there is just no way to do and see it all. Start the day at the Silver Dollar Car Classic and you can get your fill of shiny chrome and breakfast, too; the Kiwanis will be serving up pancakes until 10:30 a.m. The Downtown Carson City Wine Walk has been infiltrated by the Jazz and Beyond Music Festival. Several of the stops will be hosting musicians, in addition to vino.

Masquerade Gala to Support Mental Illness Recovery

National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Western Nevada, a local nonprofit offering education, advocacy, and support to individuals suffering from mental illness and their families, invites the public to support their work by attending "Unmasked: A Masquerade Soiree to Support Mental Illness Recovery". The October 8 dinner gala at Thunder Canyon Golf Club will feature world-renowned professional hockey goalie and author Clint Malarchuk as the keynote speaker. Entertainment will be provided by La Cirque Vagabond and the jazz trio Dave and Friends. Masks are optional!

Bowl for Gold fundraiser to benefit Special Olympics set for Nov. 12

The Northern Nevada Special Olympics program will support training and competition for 97 new bowlers this year and wants all area bowlers to participate in a fundraiser.

The "Bowl for the Gold" community fundraiser will take place on Friday, Nov. 12 at the National Bowling Stadium in Reno. Sign-in begins at 5 p.m. Bowling begins at 6 p.m. This is the inaugural "Bowl for the Gold” event in Reno.  A “Bowl for the Gold” event has been hosted for three consecutive years in Las Vegas to support southern Nevada bowlers.
