Residents in Carson City now have an option for spaying and neutering feral cats. A mobile veterinary clinic, specially designed for spay/neuter services, was recently built for Nevada Humane Society thanks to a grant which covered the cost of the vehicle.

Carson City boxing coach certified to train Parkinson's patients

Northern Nevadans fighting against Parkinson's Disease have a new ally in their corner.

Francisco Rodriguez, owner of Tazmanian Boxing Club in North Carson City, recently earned national certification to train individuals suffering from Parkinson's Disease, a distinction that makes him unique among other area boxing coaches and trainers.

Pets of the Homeless Free Wellness Clinic

Pets of the Homeless and its partners are hosting a free wellness clinic. The clinic will be on a first come, first serve basis for the first 100 pets. There will be free vaccinations, exams, pet food, supplies and nail trims.

Carson City weekend arrest log: Man jailed on drug charges, holds baggy with meth in mouth

A 46-year-old Silver Springs man was arrested Saturday on suspicion of heroin and methamphetamine possession and other charges after eluding an officer and allegedly holding a baggy of drugs in his mouth, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

This August, two 2016 CHS graduates, and a student who finished her sophomore year, will begin another year of high school in a new country, learning a new language, and living with a different family.

Seniors MacKenzie Gilliam and Delaney Fine, and sophomore Alexa Conrad, were chosen for the Rotary exchange program. Gilliam will be going to Italy, Fine to Belgium and Conrad to Leon, France.

Nevada Humane Society update on Carson the Cat: Lifesaving journey continues

Last week we began the lifesaving adventure of Carson, a handsome, young tabby cat who was hit by a car in Carson City.

His injuries were severe — bruising and scrapes all over the body, a broken jaw and two broken front legs. We fixed up his jaw here at our Nevada Humane Society veterinary clinic and then sent him to a local specialist—Sierra Veterinary Specialists. We told you his outcome was good, but we left you hanging for the next step of his adventure. Well, wait no more.

A lifesaving journey for 'Carson the Cat' found on the side of the road in Carson City

Lifesaving at Nevada Humane Society doesn’t stop; in fact, more often than not, multiple animals are in need of special surgeries all at the same time. Recently, Donner the puppy made headlines and is currently recovering from surgery. Today, Carson the cat is beginning his journey, and, just like Donner’s did, it begins with a rough start.

Nevada Health Centers’ Mammovan will make stops next month in Carson City and Yerington, officials announced Wednesday.

The mobile Mammovan aims to make mammography services accessible and convenient for women by visiting locations across Nevada. These screenings are primarily for women age 40 and older; however screenings will be provided to those younger than 40 who have a physician referral.
