TOCCATA kicks off its 12th season of Bach’s St. Matthew Passion; enjoy free admittance to today’s dress rehearsal at Shepherd of the Sierra Lutheran Church. Wild Horse Children’s Theater finishes up its spring production of ‘Annie, Jr: The Musical,’ so don’t miss your chance to catch these talented kids on stage. Muscle Powered will be out and about for their monthly Trash Mob and invite you to help clean up a little corner of our valley. The Annual Polar Plunge at Zephyr Cove is a brave way to help the Special Olympics raise money, and the costumes get wilder every year. Keep reading and enjoy the weather before the clouds return.

Trash Mob to clean up Highway 50 bike path this Saturday

Trash Mobs are a grassroots community effort coordinated by Muscle Powered volunteers to keep the walkways and bike paths around Carson City free of littler. The one-hour events take place on the third Saturday of each month at various locations around town.

Carson City flood update: Road closures remain as river levels continue to rise

As Carson City wakes to clean streets and soggy backyards, city employees have been hard at work throughout the night and will continue Monday to provide damage assessment, debris removal and clean up.

Temperatures have dropped steadily overnight and the river continues to rise.

Downtown Carson Street Corridor ready for Nevada Day, ribbon cutting noon Friday

Nearly eight months after the Municipality of Carson City and Q&D Construction broke ground on the Downtown Carson Street Corridor Improvement Project on March 7, the ribbon is now ready to be cut on the $8 million dollar expenditure one day ahead of the Nevada Day Parade.

Trash Mob to Clean Up Remnants of Waterfall Fire

The Waterfall Fire of 2004 was one of the worst fires in recent history to devastate the Eastern Sierra foothills near Carson City. After it was all said and done, over 8,700 acres and 18 homes were destroyed. As a part of the recovery process plastic tree protectors were put in place to help the seedlings that were planted.

The Environmental Protection Agency announced Thursday it is moving forward with the process to list a portion of the old Anaconda Copper Mine site in Lyon County to its National Priorities List.
