Love and happy were the feelings of the day Tuesday at the Children’s Museum of Northern Nevada in Carson City.
Those of us at the museum were uplifted to see the positive messages of those children who stopped in at our art studio and created these pieces.

Santa Claus will arrive virtually at the Children's Museum of Northern Nevada and in-person at Battle Born Harley Davidson on Saturday for pictures with families and kids of all ages. Celebrating Halloween in Carson City is really unlike any other place because the holiday sometimes lands on the same day as many Nevada Day festivities are underway. To have a more organized and safe Halloween for children, Carson City will again host its "BOOnanza" celebration this Thursday, and the Children's Museum will host a safe trick or treating event Friday.

The Washiw Tribe shares culture, heritage at Children's Museum of Northern Nevada

On Saturday afternoon from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Children's Museum of Northern Nevada partnered with the Washiw Tribe to bring the first annual Indigenous Peoples' Heritage Day, which was free to the community.

Children's Museum in Carson City to close Sept. 30 to Oct. 13 for construction

The Children's Museum of Northern Nevada will be closed from September 30th through October 13th and will re-open on October 14th. The facility is getting a front of the museum upgrade with new pavers, picnic tables, and benches.

Children's Museum Receives Nevada Arts Council Award

The Children's Museum of Northern Nevada was recently awarded $3500 by the Nevada Arts Council to produce Story Time, a literary arts program for young children. The Nevada Arts Council's support is critical in attracting support from the greater community because of the extreme vetting process used by the NAC and the prestige that comes with being part of a select group of leading cultural institutions. The award was part of Nevada's commitment to the arts in the region which included the Discovery Museum, Artown, Brewery Arts Center, and the Nevada Museum of Art.

Year of the Pig celebrated in downtown Carson City Saturday

Visitors to the Nevada State Museum and the Children's Museum of Northern Nevada got a cultural treat Saturday as the two organizations teamed up again to help ring in the Chinese New Year, celebrated worldwide Feb. 5-19, 2019.

What's happening around Carson City on Saturday, Feb. 9

The weekend is here and your Saturday around Carson City is chockfull of activities.

Despite snow on the ground, a Chinese New Year celebration will take place in downtown Carson City between the Nevada State Museum and the Children's Museum of Northern Nevada.

The ninth annual Carson High School Safe Grad Safe and Sober Run/Walk occurs at the CHS track.

And the 20th annual Feast of Chocolate, a scholarship fundraiser for the American Association of University Women (AAUW) Capital Branch, is being held at the Plaza Hotel Event Center.

New director joins Carson City's Children's Museum of Northern Nevada

The Children's Museum of Northern Nevada in Carson City recently appointed Benjamin Korn as its new Executive Director.

"We were delighted to extend an offer to Mr. Korn because he had extensive fundraising experience as well as an MA in Non Profit Arts Management" says Casey Gilles, Board President. "The museum's Board of Directors felt these two attributes made him an ideal candidate that would chart a new course for the museum involving increased resource development, enhanced constituent engagement, and a focus on revising the museum's collection."

Chinese New Year Celebration

The Children's Museum of Northern Nevada in Carson City will once again partner with the Nevada State Museum to offer a celebration of Chinese New Year on Feb. 9t, 2019 from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Festivities will begin with a music and dance performance at the Nevada State Museum at 10 AM followed by a lion dance parade up North Carson Street before concluding at the Children’s Museum at 11 AM where there will be crafts, music, and play. The event is free for members. Daily admission will apply for all non-member guests.
