Love and happy were the feelings of the day Tuesday at the Children’s Museum of Northern Nevada in Carson City.
Those of us at the museum were uplifted to see the positive messages of those children who stopped in at our art studio and created these pieces.

Heading into the weekend, there’s a bevy of activities around the Carson City region. The annual Silver and Snowflakes Festival of Lights holiday celebration goes virtual on Friday. Santa Claus will arrive virtually at the Children's Museum of Northern Nevada and in-person at Battle Born Harley Davidson on Saturday for pictures with families and kids of all ages. Heading into the final weekend of October, Halloween and Nevada Day events will keep revelers busy through Sunday making for a jam packed weekend of fun for families and grownups around the Carson City region.

Celebrating Halloween in Carson City is really unlike any other place because the holiday sometimes lands on the same day as many Nevada Day festivities are underway. To have a more organized and safe Halloween for children, Carson City will again host its "BOOnanza" celebration this Thursday, and the Children's Museum will host a safe trick or treating event Friday.

The Children's Museum of Northern Nevada and Redemption Church Carson City will be hosting the Museum's annual Safe Trick-or-Treat event. The entire Museum gets a spooky twist to it and kids are able to go to each exhibit and trick-or-treat! This year the Museum has worked tirelessly to make the event safe due to Covid-19.

The Nevada Families First program presents a day of fun at the Children's Museum of Northern Nevada. We will start our visit with story time followed by an art activity, then work our way through the museum and play with your child/children. We have reserved an hour and a half for our group connection, but you are welcome to stay longer.

While it isn't quite Christmas-weather yet, I'm assuming at some point it will get cold and we can finally get into the upcoming holiday spirit! When that time comes, there are a ton of great Santa-related events going on in Carson City for you and the little ones to enjoy.

On Saturday afternoon from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Children's Museum of Northern Nevada partnered with the Washiw Tribe to bring the first annual Indigenous Peoples' Heritage Day, which was free to the community.

The Children's Museum of Northern Nevada will be closed from September 30th through October 13th and will re-open on October 14th. The facility is getting a front of the museum upgrade with new pavers, picnic tables, and benches.

Heading into Labor Day weekend, there’s a bevy of activities around the Carson City region over the next four days, which include guided tours at the Nevada State Museum, movie showings at Mills and Schulz Ranch Park, a school supply car cruise and Bingo fundraiser at the Carson Mall, trash pickup at Lake Tahoe, a Rolling Stones tribute band at Carson Nugget, Virginia City’s Labor Day Parade and more!

The public is invited to join staff for a free family day at the Children's Museum of Northern Nevada on Saturday, August 31. The doors open at 10 a.m. so grab the kids and have a fun day with the family, compliments of Carson City Toyota.

The Children's Museum of Northern Nevada recently received a $5,000 grant award from the Robert S. and Dorothy Keyser Foundation for the acquisition of STEM themed exhibits and enhancements for the facility's science room.

CARSON CITY — The Nevada Arts Council announced Friday the awarding of more than $1 million in statewide grants to 172 recipients ranging from individual artists to nonprofit organizations and public institutions for the 2020 fiscal year.

Get in the Act! Theater Camp for Kids is celebrating its 19th summer of providing aspiring young performers with enriching performing arts training at the Children's Museum of Northern Nevada in Carson City.

The Children's Museum of Northern Nevada was recently awarded $3500 by the Nevada Arts Council to produce Story Time, a literary arts program for young children. The Nevada Arts Council's support is critical in attracting support from the greater community because of the extreme vetting process used by the NAC and the prestige that comes with being part of a select group of leading cultural institutions. The award was part of Nevada's commitment to the arts in the region which included the Discovery Museum, Artown, Brewery Arts Center, and the Nevada Museum of Art.

Get in the Act is celebrating its 19th summer of providing aspiring young performers to the magical world of theater through dancing, singing and acting and we are excited to bring our popular camp to the Children's Museum of Northern Nevada this summer! Visitors to the Nevada State Museum and the Children's Museum of Northern Nevada got a cultural treat Saturday as the two organizations teamed up again to help ring in the Chinese New Year, celebrated worldwide Feb. 5-19, 2019.

The weekend is here and your Saturday around Carson City is chockfull of activities.

Despite snow on the ground, a Chinese New Year celebration will take place in downtown Carson City between the Nevada State Museum and the Children's Museum of Northern Nevada.

The ninth annual Carson High School Safe Grad Safe and Sober Run/Walk occurs at the CHS track.

And the 20th annual Feast of Chocolate, a scholarship fundraiser for the American Association of University Women (AAUW) Capital Branch, is being held at the Plaza Hotel Event Center.

The Children's Museum of Northern Nevada in Carson City recently appointed Benjamin Korn as its new Executive Director.

"We were delighted to extend an offer to Mr. Korn because he had extensive fundraising experience as well as an MA in Non Profit Arts Management" says Casey Gilles, Board President. "The museum's Board of Directors felt these two attributes made him an ideal candidate that would chart a new course for the museum involving increased resource development, enhanced constituent engagement, and a focus on revising the museum's collection."

The Children's Museum of Northern Nevada in Carson City will once again partner with the Nevada State Museum to offer a celebration of Chinese New Year on Feb. 9t, 2019 from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Festivities will begin with a music and dance performance at the Nevada State Museum at 10 AM followed by a lion dance parade up North Carson Street before concluding at the Children’s Museum at 11 AM where there will be crafts, music, and play. The event is free for members. Daily admission will apply for all non-member guests.
