Why am I opposed to school uniforms at Carson High School? It’s a lengthy answer and so I’ll try to condense it. We live in a small town, with limited selection to stores. We have Wal-Mart, Target, JCPenny, and Kohl’s. We have access, in Reno, to those listed plus several more, but only a fraction of the stores that you would have in a big city. My daughter has been in the current SSA “uniforms” at the middle school for the last 2 years. Additionally I have a buying background in the fashion industry for 8 years, so I have that perspective to my argument as well.
The annual Mr. Carson High competition will be held on Friday, March 1st at 6:30 p.m. at the Carson City Community Center. Senior boys will be competing for the crown through dancing, singing and a variety of other talents. Fast Pass tickets can be purchased for $15.
This ticket includes appetizers and choice of preferred seating. General admission tickets are $7. Tickets may be purchased in advance at the CHS finance office, Sierra Adrenaline Cheer and Tumbling, CHS cheerleaders or Mr. Carson candidates.
CHS cheerleaders will be hosting a camp for kids in k-8th grade on Saturday, February 23rd from 9a.m. to noon at Eagle Valley Middle School, 4151 E Fifth St, Carson City. Cost of the camp is $25 at the door, $20 if you pre-register, and an additional $5 discount will be applied to returning camp participants. To pre-register email firstname.lastname@example.org. Water and snack will be provided. Participants are invited to perform as a group at Mr. Carson High on Friday, March 1st at 7 p.m.
Carson City, NV—Carson High School football players will receive new helmets, shoulder pads and other equipment this year thanks to the generosity shown during the annual “Kick-Off Dinner” recently held at Carson Nugget.
At the start of each season, the Carson High Athletic Department and the Carson High Football Boosters raise money to support the program. This year the Carson Nugget provided the venue and split the revenue generated through the sale of alcohol to help the group generate income.
The Carson High School Varsity and JV Cheerleaders will host a community cheerleading clinic open to both girls and boys grades first through eighth.
The four hour clinic will be held August 25 from 9:00am to 1:00pm with registration starting at 8:00 am at Carson High School. For more information, call Coach Marissa at 775-690-8186.
Come tip off this year's basketball season with a match-up between our
Virginia City High School Muckers and our Virginia City Firefighters!
On Friday, 18 November, they'll square off at the high school at 7PM, and the
price of admission is just one canned good per person. There will be raffle
prizes, a silent auction, AND another auction complete with an auctioneer, as
well as halftime sporting challenges for all.
But plan to come at 6PM: you can choose from an Americana dinner of
hamburgers, hot dogs, pizza, and nachos, with varying costs per item.
