Seventh Annual 'Empty Bowls' in Carson City kicks off Saturday evening

Empty Bowls is an “international grassroots effort” to fight hunger around the world.
In our local community, volunteers work throughout the year to create handcrafted bowls. Each year, hundreds of bowls are crafted in Carson City for the purpose of the fundraiser.

While many of us are shopping for the best deal on Christmas presents, criminals are looking for an opportunity to take advantage of us while we are distracted. Many of the tips provided involve common sense and can be practiced year round.
Nevada Raider Nation, Carson City Chapter Game Watch happening Sunday
Submitted by Carson Now Reader on Tue, 12/03/2019 - 2:32pmNevada Raider Nation, Carson City Chapter will host an Oakland Raiders game watch Sunday, Dec. 8 at 1:25 p.m. at Jimmy G's, 301 North Carson Street, in Carson City.
The Oakland Raiders take on the Tennessee Titans for a still-small chance of taking a wildcard spot for the AFC playoffs.
Membership to the Chapter is $20 per person. Jimmy G's will offer drink specials to Chapter members; a potluck with delicious food will be available for a small donation.
A 50/50 cash drawing will also be held. For information, contact Jeremy Soga, Co-Chair, at (775) 220-6706.

Carson City deputies arrest man for felony violation of stalking, harassment protection order
Submitted by Kelsey Penrose on Sat, 11/23/2019 - 11:00amA 30-year-old South Lake Tahoe man was arrested in the 1100 block of Cedar Street Friday morning for felony violation of a stalking and harassment protection order.
According to the report, Joshua Patterson was arrested after a woman alerted dispatch that Patteson was at her house while she was at work in violation of an extended protection order (EPO) for stalking and harassment. Both the woman and her husband were protected against the man on the EPO.
The EPO was served to Patterson on Aug. 20 and required he stay away from the residence.

Carson City deputies arrest 18-year-old for probation violation after driving 10 mph in a 25 mph zone
Submitted by Kelsey Penrose on Fri, 11/22/2019 - 10:47am— An 18-year-old Carson City woman was arrested in the area of 5th and Carson Street for probation violation after driving an unregistered vehicle at 10 mph in a 25 mph zone.
According to the report, deputies were patrolling in the area of 5th and Stewart when they began following an unregistered vehicle traveling at a slow rate of speed, clocking in at 10 mph in a 25 mph zone.
The vehicle then turned into the Nevada Legislature service ramp area and a male and female exited the vehicle and walked away.

Reno man held on $250,000 bail for sexual assault and three counts of privacy invasion

According to the report, Jonathan Keith Graves was arrested after deputies received information that Graves had an outstanding felony warrant issued on Sept. 13, 2019 for sexual assault and intrusion of privacy with an electronic device. They learned that Graves would be driving from Douglas County to Washoe County between the hours of 5 and 6 p.m.

Carson City man arrested for carrying suspected white-supremacist dangerous weapon

In addition, according to the report, the right tail lamp of the vehicle was broken and the license plate light was not functioning.
