Two-month old Infant dies, father located in Sacramento and taken into custody
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Sat, 01/10/2015 - 11:29amA two-month old infant girl was taken off of life support at 12:48 a.m. Saturday morning, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office confirmed.
The agency is investigating a child abuse case involving a suspect, Trent Getty, the father of the girl, who was wanted by Douglas County investigators, and found in Sacramento, Calif., at a Greyhound Bus depo. He was taken into custody by the Sacramento Police Department, said Douglas County Sheriff's Sgt. Pat Brooks.

East Fork Fire District Celebrates Promotion of Six to Firefighter/Paramedic

The six firefighters attended paramedic school through REMSA/UNR in groups of two while still working as firefighters with East Fork over the last three years.
All six of the firefighters: Jeff Cates, Matt Smith, Roby Safford, Clayton Peterson, Steve Koontz and Zac Pedersen graduated with a GPA of 3.6 or greater from the year-long program.

Submitted by Jeff Munson on Tue, 08/13/2013 - 11:41amA Gardnerville Ranchos man died of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot Monday night following an argument with his wife whom he apparently shot in the leg before turning the gun on himself, the Douglas County Sheriff's Office reports.
David Woffinden, 37, died of a single shot to the chest, said Douglas County Sheriff's Office Sgt. Pat Brooks. The man's wife, Kimberly Woffinden, 34, was taken to Carson Valley Medical Center where she was treated for her injury. The incident was reported at around 9:40 p.m., at a home in the 1400 block of Angora Dive in Gardnerville Ranchos

Submitted by Jeff Munson on Mon, 02/25/2013 - 10:31amA 4-year-old Gardnerville boy died in an accident Sunday in the 900 block of Cavelti Road in the Spring Valley area south of Gardnerville, the Douglas County Sheriff Office reports. The boy has been identified as Mason Geist, authorities said.
Deputies responded at 3:45 p.m. to 980 Cavelti Road in the Spring Valley area on the report of a vehicle accident involving the injury of a 4-year-old boy, said Douglas County Undersheriff Paul Howell.

Carson City man dies in Highway 395 crash near Gardnerville
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Tue, 01/08/2013 - 10:25amAlcohol is suspected as a factor in a fatal crash Monday night on Highway 395 three miles south of Gardnerville in Douglas County that killed a 31-year-old Carson City man, the Nevada Highway Patrol reports.
The crash was reported at 10:05 p.m. The preliminary crash investigation details a blue 1995 Ford 4-door sedan, driven by the Carson City man, was pulling out from the driveway of the 7-Eleven store near Riverview Drive and Highway 395, said NHP Trooper Chuck Allen.

NHP trooper suffers minor injuries after patrol car hit by alleged DUI driver

NHP Trooper Dan Lopez was driving a Ford Crown Victoria sedan patrol call when the driver of another vehicle allegedly ran a red traffic signal at the intersection striking the left side of the patrol car at 5:19 a.m., said NHP Trooper Chuck Allen.

Pedestrian in crosswalk seriously injured in Gardnerville accident
Submitted by editor on Tue, 11/01/2011 - 10:08amA 43-year-old woman was seriously injured and taken to Renown Regional Medical Center by Care Flight after being hit in a crosswalk on Monday afternoon in Gardnerville, the Nevada Highway Patrol reports.
An accident investigation indicates the woman was walking in a crosswalk to an entrance to an O’Reilly vehicle parts store at 2:37 p.m. on Highway 395 north of Kingslane, said Trooper Dan Lopez.

NHP reports that a passenger riding in the back seat of a Mitsubishi, Michael A. Lombardo IV died at the scene after being ejected during the accident, reported at about 1 p.m.
