The weekend is at our doorstep as we head into Friday, May 10, 2019. Even though forecasters say we may have showers this weekend, the cool spring rain won't dampen the fun. We have a bevy of activities lined up Friday including the opening of the Transcontinental Railroad exhibit at the Nevada State Railroad Museum, day 1 of the two-day Mother's Day Plant Sale hosted by The Greenhouse Project, RSVP's Spring Celebration and Carnival at Mills Park, a day hike, art showings, live music and more.

Carson Mall Wine Walk this Saturday

Come sip and shop at the Carson Mall this Saturday, May 11 from 2 to 6 p.m. Carson Mall Wine Walks are held on the second Saturday of the Month.

New walkers pay $10 and returning walkers pay $5. You will receive a wine glass which is yours to keep!

Pedestrian safety improvements coming to Carson City, Dayton and Gardnerville

CARSON CITY — Beginning Monday, May 6, the Nevada Department of Transportation will launch multiple projects to install pedestrian traffic safety improvements in Carson City, Dayton and Gardnerville. Here's what NDOT will be working on in the coming days and weeks ahead:

With Easter a week away, the Easter Bunny will make an appearance at the Carson Mall in Carson City this Saturday and Sunday, April 13-14 and again on April 20. Precious Moments will be joining the craft show, as it hosts the Easter Bunny who will have a special prize for each child.

Trial date set in April 2020 for suspect in murder of Gardnerville women, Reno couple

A trial date in April 2020 has been set for Wilber Martinez-Guzman, the 19-year-old accused of killing four people during a 10-day murder spree through Douglas and Washoe counties.

On Tuesday, Martinez-Guzman had an arraignment in Washoe County District Court, where he waived his right to a speedy trial. He pled not guilty to murdering four people in Reno and Gardnerville in January. He also pled not guilty for burglary and possession of stolen weapons.

Family Bingo Night

Murder suspect indicted by grand jury, prosecutors to seek death penalty in Gardnerville and Reno slayings

An indictment was filed late Wednesday against the man accused of killing two Gardnerville area women and a South Reno couple in January. Prosecutors said Thursday they intend to seek the death penalty.

Accused murderer Wilber Martinez-Guzman will be tried on four murder counts. He's been charged with the murders of Connie Koontz, 56, and Sophia Renken, 74, both of the Gardnerville area, and Gerald, 82, and Sharon David, 80, of South Reno. The murder spree happened within a 10 day period.

Man arrested again for trespassing at the Carson City Mall

A 66-year-old transient man was arrested at the Carson Mall Tuesday afternoon after harassing customers and staff members.

Deputies were dispatched to the mall on the report of a trespasser who was known to both deputies and mall staff. He had been trespassed numerous times previously, and received a citation less than a week prior at the mall for trespassing.

Suspect formally charged with murders in Gardnerville and Reno

A man arrested Jan. 19 in Carson City has now been formally charged with murder in four slayings that happened earlier this month in Gardnerville and South Reno, according to district attorneys in Douglas and Washoe counties.
