Carson City Silver Dollar Car Classic

While Hot August Nights begins its 31st annual celebration with festivities in Virginia City this weekend, the Nevada state capital is host to another oldie, but goody.

Classic car enthusiasts can get a head start into this weekend's festivities with a Cruise Night tonight at Wyndham Gardens Carson Station, 5 to 8 p.m. at 900 S. Carson Street Carson City.

Hosted by Silver Dollar Car Classic, cruises are held every Thursday night through summer at various locations around Carson City.

With the rev of mighty V-8 engines and enough polished chrome to require a good pair of sunglasses, the annual Silver Dollar Car Classic is the capital city's all-out celebration of the American automobile.
Today through Sunday, Mills Park in Carson City turns into a mecca of some of the finest hot rods ever made, with more than 400 restored, tricked-out and souped-up cars and trucks on display under the canopy of dozens of shade trees.

Here are the 2010 winners of the Carson City Silver Dollar Car Classic held this weekend at Mills Park. The event brought hundreds of car enthusiasts to Carson City for the weekend before many moved on to Reno for the Hot August Nights celebration.

Among the winners, there were three speciality picks. These winners and the images of their cars will be featured on T-shirts and advertisements for next year's event. They are:

Hundreds of car enthusiasts from Nevada and California made their way to Mills Park in Carson City today for the annual Carson City Silver Dollar Car Classic.
The car show, which continues through Sunday, is among the region's biggest draws, with more than 300 restored, tricked-out, and souped-up cars and trucks on display.
Saturday's ideal weather conditions and the tree coverage of Mills Park made it a great event for the entire family, organizers said.

Rev up your engines and get your motor running for the Silver Dollar Classic at Mills Park in Carson City beginning Friday and lasting through Sunday. Around 400 vehicles will be featured at this event.

Thursday night the Carson Mall was filled with people, cars, good food and rock & roll music for the Silver Dollar Cruise Night. It was a blast. The event ran from 6 pm to 8 pm. There was no fee for spectators. If you weren’t able to make it out to Thursday night’s event, there will be two other Silver Dollar Cruise Nights before the Annual Carson City Silver Dollar Car Classic, July 22 at the Carson Mall & July 29 at the Plaza Hotel & Conference Center both from 6 pm to 8 pm. The Annual Carson City Silver Dollar Car Classic will be from July 30th through Aug. 1st.
