Crime Log: Man arrested for stealing cancer patient's medication

Carson City Sheriff's deputies arrested Orion Johnathan Haines, 20, a Carson City resident, at around 8:30 p.m. Wednesday evening at the 1900 block of North Carson Street.

Officers were dispatched to the location to apprehend a fleeing felon. The felon in question was quickly apprehended. Haines refused several times to comply with officers after his friend was arrested, and was discovered to have allegedly stolen medications from a cancer patient that lived next door to him.

Crime Log: vandalism turns into attempt to obtain medication

A Carson City Sheriff's deputy arrested Cameron Matthew Haffey, 20, a stocker from Carson City, just before 3 a.m. Wednesday at the 1800 block of North Carson Street. Around 11 p.m. Tuesday officers were dispatched to a north Carson pharmacy on a report of a broken window. Camera footage showed a suspect in dark pants and a dark coat. Later on the same deputy was passing the pharmacy and spotted a suspect that matched that description.

Crime Log: Several arrests over New Years weekend

Carson City Sheriff's deputies arrested David Anthony Patten, 19, an unemployed Carson City resident, at 10:51 a.m. Friday, near the 500 block of Country Village Drive in Carson City. Patten was arrested for a felony probation violation, a felony failure to appear warrant, and an unspecified misdemeanor felony. No bail has been set.

Juan Diaz-Rodriguez, 44, of Carson City, was arrested at around noon Friday near the 1900 block of North Carson Street. Diaz-Rodriguez was arrested for a felony fraud of a business. Bail is set at $7,500.

Crime Log: man arrested near Koontz water tower

Carson City Sheriff's deputies arrested Clyde Renville Hawkins Jr., 52, a mechanic from Reno, at around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Hawkins was arrested near the Koontz water tower for a felony burglary warrant out of Reno. He was discovered near the water tower in a parked vehicle, and told officers that he had been working out of Gardnerville and was "chilling out" after work.

Bail was set at $7,500.

Christmas weekend a busy one for Carson City officers

Carson City Sheriff's deputies arrested David Scott Illig, 25, an unemployed Carson City man, at around 11:30 p.m. Monday. Illig was arrested for a felony probation violation and a felony posession with intent to sell warrant, near the intersection of Goni Lane and College Parkway. No bail has been set.

At around 11:30 p.m. Saturday, officers arrested Jacob Allen Jarrard, 23, a Carson City resident, near the intersection of Sherman Lane and Airport Road. Jarrard was arrested for a felony warrant on file and a misdemeanor contempt of court. No bail has been set on the felony.

Crime Log for Dec. 22, 2011

Carson City Sheriff's deputies arrested Anthony Eugene "Tony" Wygant-Woolery, 43, an unemployed Carson City man, around noon near the 900 block of East Long St. Wygant-Woolery was arrested for a previous felony possession of a controlled substance warrant. No bail has been set.

Just after 11 p.m. Wednesday evening, officers arrested Billy Wayne Campini, 39, an unemployed Carson City man, near the intersection of Carson and Corbett streets. Campini was arrested on a felony Fugitive from Justice warrant issued in his name, out of Placerville. Bail is set at $10,000.

Crime Log: Officers discover US Marshall's warrant during booking

At approximately 8 a.m. Monday morning, an officer accepted Omar Segura-Hernandez, 28, a Carson City resident, into the Carson City Detention Facility on Musser St. Segura-Hernandez was originally arrested for a felony failure to appear warrant issued in his name. Upon arrival at the detention facility, the booking officer accessed Segura-Hernandez' records and discovered a felony US Marshall hold for felon in possession of a firearm and a misdemeanor NHP failure to appear for a traffic violation hold. Both felony charges carry no bail.

Man allegedly steals donuts and taquitos, runs, gets tased

At approximately 2 a.m. Friday, a Carson City Sherrif's deputy was dispatched to attend to a report of larceny, with the subjects - an 18-year-old Carson City man and a 25-year-old Carson City architecht - last seen heading east toward the north Wal-Mart on Market Street.

When the deputy arrived he sighted two men matching the description of the two larceny suspects sharing a large beer outside the west entrance of Wal-Mart. When the deputy stopped to ask the men what they were doing, the younger of the two attempted to escape.

Carson City heroes save Christmas

Question: What do Santa, a clown, a platoon of police officers, and coffee have in common?

Answer: They were all at the Wal-Mart service center Friday morning.

The second day of the seventh-annual Holiday With a Hero shopping spree event kicked off at 9 a.m., with the volunteers being fed donuts and coffee. Santa and his Wal-Mart helpers stood prepped to welcome less-fortunate children and help pair them off with volunteers, who would help them spend their complimentary Wal-Mart gift cards.

Jailhouse altercation leads to two felony citations

A recorded altercation on Monday between Carson City Detention Facility inmates Jorel Alex Turtle, 24, and Christopher Moceri, 21, both Carson City residents, led to both men being cited with felony Battery on Prisoner by Prisoner. Both men bore marks of being in a fight at the time of breakfast Monday morning, served at the jail at approximately 5 a.m.

Bail for these charges for both men was set at $20,000.

Holiday With a Hero, Day 1

Sheriff's officers, state troopers, National Guardsmen, and a plethora of other volunteers - and their charges - middle and high school students in need of a Christmas - converged at Wal-Mart at 9 p.m. Wednesday morning for the annual Holiday with a Hero event.

With 280 low-income students to help, this year's shopping spree had to be broken up into two groups - one of middle and high school students, and one of elementary school students - spread out over two days.

Crime Log: Carson City woman turns self in over stolen property warrant

Carson City Sheriff's deputies arrested Carrie Lynn Knack, 32, an office assistant from Carson City, at around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday night at the Carson City Jail. Knack turned herself in on a felony warrant of Possession of Stolen Property, Grand Larceny, and Commercial Burglary issued in her name.

Bail is set at $25,000.

Crime Log for Dec. 12, 2011

A Carson City Sheriff's Deputy arrested Jeffrey Christopher Haugen, 28, a Carson City resident, at around 4 p.m. in the 800 block of East Musser St. for felony burglary and felony grand larceny valued between $250 and $2,500. Bail is set at $20,000.

Deputies also responded to several other calls this weekend, resulting in several misdemeanor arrests. Among these were two drunk driving arrests and a driving under a suspended license arrest.

Sheriff Furlong visits the Last Wild Place radio show

Sheriff Kenny Furlong was in Reno Wednesday morning taping an interview for "The Last Wild Place," a locally-produced radio show hosted by country singer Lacy J. Dalton. Furlong talked about some of the Carson City Sheriff's Department fixtures, including it's large and passionate volunteer force, and discussed holiday safety tips.

Also interviewed were two members of Occupy Carson City and a Stagecoach resident running for Nevada State Assembly.

Crime log: Two separate probation violations lead to arrests

At around 10 p.m. Wednesday evening, Carson City Sheriff's officers arrested Corey Allan Madieros, 19, a construction worker from Gardnerville, near the 1300 block of South Carson Street. Madieros was arrested for a Parole and Probation violation; no bail was set.

Crime Log: Man arrested for unprescribed oxycodone, other charges

A Carson City Sheriff's deputy arrested Orion Jonathan Haines, 20, an unemployed Gardnerville resident, just after midnight this morning, for a misdemeanor contempt of court warrant, a misdemeanor obstruction of justice, a misdemeanor minor consumption, and a felony possession of dangerous unprescribed drugs.

Man arrested for child endangerment

At around 11:30 p.m. Monday, officers responded to a dispatch from Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center in regards to suspected child abuse. A mother returned home from work to discover that her 21-month-old daughter, who had been in the care of her father, had unexplainable injuries to the side of her face and thigh consistent with open-hand slapping.

Escapee from juvenile detention apprehended

A 17-year-old runaway from California who escaped from the juvenile detention facility at 5th & Saliman on Saturday morning was apprehended about an hour later, after he allegedly broke into a home and stole clothes and a cell phone.
