UPDATE: 8:50PM: Incident command at the fire reports the initial flames from the RV trailer have been knocked down. Firefighters on scene are mopping up the area.

Two-car motor vehicle accident in westbound lanes of Interstate 580 at Spooner Interchange

The Nevada Highway Patrol is on scene of a two-vehicle accident on the Interstate 580 side of Spooner Junction interchange in the westbound lanes.

Carson City Fire Department is responding. One person is complaining of neck pain. No other injuries reported.

Motorists in the area are advised to use caution. Traffic will be slow and there may be some delays.

UPDATE 4:43PM: From Douglas County Sheriff's Office via Twitter: Firefighters are making good progress on the James Fire to the north and east side flanks with two helicopters dropping water and 1 fixed wing air tanker dropping retardant. Firefighters continue battling active fire on the west side. Two hand crews have arrived and more coming.

UPDATE 413PM: In a fire that exploded fast threatening homes in the James Canyon area north of Genoa, firefighters have been able to save up to 30 structures thus far that are threatened by the James Fire that started Monday afternoon. Two helicopters, 1 air tanker and more than 100 firefighters continue to battle the blaze. There's no word yet on containment but Douglas County officials say the fire remains at around 50 acres as of 4 p.m. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Lyon County firefighters called to brush fire off Highway 50 near Stagecoach

UPDATE 5:41PM: Highway 50 is back open in both directions and forward progress has been stopped on the fire at Iron Mountain Boulevard and Broken Arrow Road near Stagecoach, according to the battalion chief. As of 5:28 p.m. the mop up phase was underway. At 5:40 p.m., the chief noted several power poles were damaged due to the fire.

UPDATE: Highway 50 was closed in both directions just before 5 p.m. because of the fire burning near Stagecoach off of Iron Mountain Drive. Both eastbound and westbound traffic is being escorted through. Please avoid the area if possible and yield for emergency vehicles. UPDATE 2:08PM: Eastbound travel lanes on US-50 at Arrowhead near Deer Run are now open. The westbound traffic is being diverted onto Arrowhead, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol. One person was transported by Care Flight and the other rider was taken by ground ambulance. Their conditions are unknown at this time. NHP is investigating the crash.
