Carson City Fire Department training exercise today on South Nevada Street

The Carson City Fire Department and multiple fire agencies from around the region are holding firefighting training exercises Friday in the area of South Nevada Street. Smoke will be used as part of the exercise.

Pedestrian struck by vehicle at Highway 50 and Airport Road, Care Flight ordered

A male pedestrian was stuck by a vehicle, reported at around 5:38 p.m. Wednesday night at the intersection of Highway 50 and Airport Road in Carson City. A Care Flight air ambulance was dispatched and will land at the nearby Carson City Fire Department Training Center.

Fireworks will be part of Tuesday Carson City Fire Department training

The Carson City Fire Department will hold a training this morning at Station 52, 2400 College Parkway, that includes the setting off of fireworks, said Fire Chief Stacey Giomi.

The training exercise, which should last for about an hour, will begin at around 9 a.m. The training is part of a class on fire inspection of licensed pyrotechnic companies, Giomi explained.

The explosions are expected to be relatively minor and heard in the nearby area, said Giomi.
