Boutique opens to benefit four-legged homeless friends
Submitted by editor on Mon, 12/17/2012 - 10:38amOn Saturday, Dec. 15, Pet Network Humane Society, officially opened their Second Chance Consignment Boutique at 2578 S. Curry Street south of Greenhouse Garden Center in Carson City.
Sales go to benefit the Pet Network Humane Society headquartered at Incline Village. Pet Network works closely with the Carson City Animal Shelter to save pets headed for euthansia. Donations of gently used clothing appreciated.
Open House at Carson City AAA on Friday to benefit Special Olympics
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Thu, 05/17/2012 - 12:26pmIn the spirit of teamwork and goodwill, AAA continues its steadfast tradition to civic involvement by hosting on May 18 an open house designed to benefit Special Olympics in its south Carson City office.
The event, which is slated from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., includes a silent auction, special insurance counseling, travel advice as well as ample refreshments. Proceeds from the silent auction with items ranging from a glider plane ride to a round of golf will be earmarked for the Special Olympics of Nevada.

Carson City to host Heal the World Interfaith Picnic of Nevada

Christians of various denominations, Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists, Jews, Baha’is, and others, besides sharing food, music, games, prayers, a “Peace Cake”, etc., will also try to find similarities between their diverse traditions at second annual “Heal the World Interfaith Picnic of Nevada” on July 31, said Adina Richman Karst, vent coordinator.

Carson City animal shelter scales back, announces new hours

The change reflects cost-cutting measures by one day from the current schedule. The shelter is now closed on Sundays, Mondays and holidays.
Carson City animal shelter gets a facelift from chamber leadership class

Through the Carson City Chamber of Commerce Leadership Class 2010, this top dog group put up fences, pounded nails and laid down coats of paint, sprucing up the Butti Way animal shelter.
With 17 Leadership Carson City class members present and student volunteers from Western Nevada College, the overhaul is designed to revamp the adoption area by adding new fences, outdoor furniture and dog-friendly shelters.
No collars necessary at flea market fundraiser for dog park
