Carson Tahoe Health opens blood and bone marrow transplant care clinic

Carson Tahoe Cancer Center in Carson City opened a new blood and bone marrow transplant care clinic on Monday with support from the Huntsman Cancer Institute at the University of Utah. Under the collaboration, a Bone Marrow Transplant physician and nurse from HCI will travel to Carson City once a month to treat patients both before and after they receive a transplant.

Final days of voting for Artsy Fartsy Art Gallery: Independant Small Business of the Year

The final push is on to recognize local gallery, Artsy Fartsy, in a national competition. The national business movement Independent We Stand has declared Artsy Fartsy Art Gallery in Carson City among the quarter finalists for the 2016 Independent We Stand Small Business of the Year Award. Only 25 small businesses across America have made it to this round.

Huntsman Cancer Institute and Carson Tahoe Cancer Center: Working Together to Advance the Cancer Moonshot

Earlier this year, a national “moonshot” to defeat cancer was announced at the State of the Union. I was gratified to see rural cancer care issues included in this conversation. Huntsman Cancer Institute (HCI) at the University of Utah has long emphasized working to ensure that individuals who live in rural areas can access cancer screening, treatment, and prevention resources.

This is challenging work, but thanks to commitment from other high-quality health care organizations, we are improving cancer care in rural communities.

Carson High School celebrated its first Week of Respect Oct. 3-7. Students and staff participated in daily activities promoting positive interactions to support a safe and respectful learning environment. Highlights of the week included interactive game stations where students gathered in Senator Square and engaged in board games and brain teasers.
