The blues and bluegrass band Dirty Cello is not your typical band. Fronted by renowned classical cellist, Rebecca Roudman, this genre-bending band plays high energy blues and bluegrass like you’ve never heard before. There’s even a smattering of classic rock like the Rolling Stones thrown in.

The Brewery Arts Center, Carson City’s premiere epicenter for the arts since 1975, is hosting the Sierra Sweethearts CD release party and concert this Friday in the BAC’s Black Box Theatre in Carson City.

Acclaimed singer-songwriter Rita Hosking along with Sean Feder will perform a one-night only concert next month in the capital region at the Historic Silver City Schoolhouse.

Sierra Sweethearts will bring bluegrass music to Dangberg Home Ranch Historic Park at 6:30 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 23.

The 2018 Levitt AMP Carson City Music Series held its ninth of 10 free public outdoor concerts Saturday night, delivering the sounds of Americana to another packed crowd at the Brewery Arts Center.

Singer and song writer Mike Beck will bring Western Americana music to Dangberg Home Ranch Historic Park at 6:30 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 16.

In a return engagement, Sacramento area band, Todd Morgan and the Emblems, will bring 50s, 60s and Rockabilly style music to Dangberg Home Ranch Historic Park at 6:30 p.m., Thursday, July 26.

School let out and summer wasted no time getting to the fun stuff. This weekend will bring the Revival Car Show and the annual Capital City Brewfest downtown, in addition to a wine walk at the Carson Mall and the Fair/Rendezvous at Mills Park. Today, you can enjoy some live music at Living the Good Life or Bella Vita Bistro, get your karaoke fix at Whiskey Tavern, or head to the Carson Mall for their monthly cruise night.

The annual Carson River cleanup event is scheduled for this Saturday, Sept. 17, from 8 am until noon. Volunteers should check in at the Silver Saddle Ranch by 8 a.m. and bring a hat, sunblock, gloves, long sleeve pants and shirts.

Bluegrass fans take note: Sept. 27, 7 p.m., in the BAC’s Maize Harris Jesse Theater, the Roots Music Series presents The Slide Mountain Band.

This wonderful acoustic group has played all over Northern Nevada, and Eastern California. (They will drive further for hamburgers.)

Many celebrations are scheduled statewide in the month of July. These Nevada 150 celebrate all things Nevada and bring awareness to the 150th Anniversary of Statehood. The following events are held July 18 through July 31.

Fresh off the win of the International Bluegrass Music Association's (IBMA) Male Vocalist of the Year for the second consecutive year (4-time career), Russell Moore is truly at the top of his game. Fronting one of the most popular bands in bluegrass history; Russell Moore & IIIrd Tyme Out is celebrating 20 years as one of the genres most awarded and influential groups in modern day bluegrass. All in all, the band has garnered over 50 industry accolades since their inception in 1991 including being named the IBMA’s Vocal Group of the Year seven consecutive years.
