I Love Carson City’s Weekend Event Summary: June 3 - 4

If you happen to be up very early on Saturday morning, you may just see some runners in the pre-dawn hours. The Reno-Tahoe Odyssey, a 178 mile relay, passes through Carson City on its way to Virginia City. A huge congratulations goes out to the Class of 2017; the Carson High graduates will get their diplomas today. It’s wine walk weekend, so downtown will be hopping with sippers, strollers, and plenty of summer fun. Keep reading, and you’re sure to find something to make this weekend special.

Memorial Day, May 29: Things to do in the Carson City area

The long weekend continues. Memorial Day is for remembering our fallen heroes, those who have or are serving in our Armed Forces. We also honor those loved ones left behind. With several services around the area, you’ll easily find a way to pay your respects. Pick up an American flag at any of the shops or restaurants at the Carson Mall. Stay safe out there, and enjoy the day.

Memorial Weekend activities continue Sunday into Monday

It’s the perfect time to enjoy family and friends and some great music. The Carson Nugget powers it up to rock out tonight with Volt: A Tribute to AC/DC in their ballroom. Dayton Valley Golf Course offers up dinner and a show with this year’s debut of Concerts on the Green. Blues Monster and pulled pork sliders are a great way to enjoy the evening.

As the weather heats up, Muscle Powered compensates by moving their easy hike to the cooler hours of the morning. Chef Mitchell Tufts has found a new home at the new Cadillac Café at the Silver Oak Golf Course: the Grand Opening is at noon. Author and journalist, David Toll, tells the tale of the defunct newspaper, The Gold Hill News, at this month’s lecture at the Nevada State Museum.

Senator Square: Three teachers who light up Carson High School

Every year, Ormsby County Education Association and the Carson City School District sponsor “The Light of Education” awards, and this year’s CHS winners are Ann Britt, Johanna Davis, and first year teacher Monica Chavez who said, “I felt very shocked, honored, and blessed about winning the award.”

New food items introduced at Greater Nevada Field in 2017

The Reno Aces Baseball Club and Professional Sports Catering have revamped and reinvented the menus at Greater Nevada Field in 2017, officials announced Thursday. Additional game day concepts for the 2017 season include numerous brisket and bacon options, specialty hot dogs for every opponent, and an 1868 Burger, inspired by Reno 1868 FC.

Brian Sandoval presides over a ceremony at the Veterans Memorial at 9 a.m., and even more is in store at the Legislature, including a BBQ. It’s also Nevada Moves Day, which means you’ll see a lot of school age walkers and bicyclists on the sidewalks. Reward your family with a movie at the Library tonight: The BFG is fun for all ages. A Special Day is set aside to honor Nevada's Veterans and Military at the Legislature

The public is invited to attend Veterans and Military Day at the Legislature in Carson City on Wednesday, March 15, 2017.

The day-long event starts at 8 a.m. with coffee. The opening ceremony begins at 9 a.m. featuring Governor Brian Sandoval. The ceremony will take place in front of the Veterans Memorial, located behind the Capitol Building.
