The group runs a community library inside the historic Silver City School House and has a huge selection of wonderful books to choose from. Some categories of books for sale are: children's books, fiction, biography, history, art books, DIY, field guides, cook books and collectibles. There will also be a bake sale featuring goodies from some notable local bakers!

Lyon County Senior Centers celebrations will include various activities throughout the month of March.

Along the music front, CHS Band will host its winter concert at the Carson City Community Center and our own local country music star and Nashville recording artist Art Mulcahy will be at Jimmy G's. Fundraiser tonight in Dayton, Saturday in Carson City for young girl battling brain tumor
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Wed, 11/20/2019 - 3:01pmTonight, (Wednesday night) in Dayton, the Sutro Elementary School Boosters Club will host a spaghetti dinner fundraiser for a student, Maliya Gafford, who has been diagnosed with a brain tumor. A fundraiser is also planned for this Saturday in Carson City.
The dinner tonight is from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Sutro Elementary School multipurpose room, 190 Dayton Village Pkwy, Dayton.
The cost is $5. There will be a raffle, silent auction and a bake sale. Boosters will have a donation box in the office if you are unable to attend but would like to help.

This year’s event will feature an amazing array of raffle prizes, dunk tank, craft fair, silent auction, cake walk, carnival games, Bouncy Castles, prizes, food, bake sale, Nevada-grown pumpkins, wagon rides, juggling demonstrations and lots of family fun. The annual Chili on the Comstock Competition takes over the tiny town of Virginia City, including a saloon crawl Saturday and the hilarious ‘Fun with the Runs’ 5K. Families will have a hard time choosing between the Cops and Kids Open House and Safety Fair at the Sheriff’s Office and the ‘Kids to Parks’ Day activities at Silver Saddle Ranch. Keep reading, and I apologize in advance for throwing so many great options your way.

Head down to McFadden Plaza, even if you didn’t take the challenge personally. You’ll find live music, raffles, bike games, and too much fun. Western Nevada Musical Theater Company returns for another weekend of Singin’ in the Rain at the Bob Boldrick Theater. Antsy McClain and the Trailer Park Troubadours are waiting to entertain you at the Brewery Arts Center. There may be some balcony seating still available, but tickets are very limited.

Keep an eye out for Mark Twain, plenty of music, and fun for all. Leis are the preferred accessory for Lei Day at the Nevada State Museum where you’ll be treated to Polynesian surprises and free admission. With three local theater groups performing this weekend, you’re sure to find a performance that’s right up your alley. Read on and be prepared to be bombarded with options.

In the wee hours of Sunday morning we spring forward into Daylight Savings Time. The Children’s Museum of Northern Nevada is teaming up with NDOT and the Head Injury Association of N. NV for a Brain Safety Day and free bicycle helmet giveaway. Join up with our Parks and Recreation Department for a guided walk at Riverview Park. The Experimental Aircraft Association is holding a Young Eagles event today, so if your kid loves airplanes, you won’t want to miss it.
