U.S. Representative Mark Amodei, serving Nevada's Second Congressional District, today released the following statement on House Resolution 4760, the Securing America’s Future Act:

Though not known to carry disease, state agriculture officials are reminding northern Nevadans to report Mormon cricket infestations. In large numbers, Mormon crickets pose a safety threat because they can create unsafe road conditions.

Did you know that approximately one out of every three bites of food you eat depends on the work of a "pollinator?” Bees, butterflies, moths, beetles, flies, and hummingbirds are keystone pollinator species in Nevada, supporting healthy wildlands, ecosystem diversity, and a nutritious food supply.

This month, California Governor Jerry “Moonbeam” Brown signed probably the most restrictive water consumption law in the country. Under the new statute, starting in 2022 every California man, woman and child will be restricted to 55 gallons of water use per day. For a family of four, that’s 220 gallons per day.

The penalties for using more water than your allocation under this newest socialist Democrat program? Between $1,000 and $10,000 per day.

The Nevada Department of Agriculture said it has withdrawn request for proposals for the transfer of ownership of more than 2,900 horses on the Virginia Range after not having received any proposals by the April 16 deadline.

Recently released data from the U.S. Census Bureau Foreign Trade Division for 2017 on the total Nevada food and agriculture exports show more than $362 million in annual exports. This is an 8.5 percent year over year increase, and a 106 percent increase since 2013.

CARSON CITY — Nineteen Carson High School Capital FFA students yielded bushels of awards at the Nevada State FFA Conference held at the University of Nevada Reno March 20-24. Most notably, the CHS Career and Technical Education students were honored with the Best Dressed Chapter Award, recognizing the chapter as the most professional chapter at the conference.

School-age youth will be showing their project animals at the Reno-Sparks Livestock Events Center during University of Nevada Cooperative Extension’s Washoe County 4-H Livestock Show, 9 a.m., April 15.

Kids to Parks Day is a national event hosted by the National Park Trust with the mission of bringing outdoor education and recreation to youth via local parks. Carson City's Kids to Parks Day will be at Silver Saddle Ranch Saturday, May 19 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will feature:

River Wranglers (RW), a youth-oriented watershed education organization based in Carson City, has just wrapped up its fall season.

RW’s Education and Outreach Coordinator Julia Keane led students through different programs that focus specifically on the Carson River Watershed.

Keane came on board in October of 2017 as an AmeriCorps Member from the Sierra Nevada AmeriCorps Partnership (SNAP).
