Sunday, April 30: Things to do around Carson City and beyond

Take advantage of the spring sunshine and seize the day. Virginia City roars with the sound of their annual Grand Prix. Beer and brats aren’t usually associated with ballet, but the Sierra Nevada Ballet makes the annual event at the Brewery Arts Center a great time for all. The Earth Spirit Faire wraps up its weekend of wellness at the Community Center. Head to Reno for a Cinco De Mayo Celebration at the Grand Sierra that features musicians, cuisine, and carnival rides.

The Earth Spirit Faire has returned to the Nevada state capital, featuring several craft vendors and practitioners in the healing arts, massage, and intuitive readings inside the Carson City Community Center gymnasium Saturday and Sunday.

Carson City District Attorney's Office hosts 'Law Suits Clothing Drive' through April

The clothing collected will be donated to Classy Seconds which, through the work of Advocates to End Domestic Violence, provides free business attire to individuals seeking to enter or re-enter the job market.

The Vagina Monologues featured in Carson City this Friday and Saturday

Carson City Court Employees Serve Families and Seniors Beyond the Courthouse

For 15 years, employees of the First Judicial District Court, Carson City Justice and Municipal Court and Alternative Sentencing Department adopt families and seniors for the holiday season. Harvest Train arrives in Carson City for second annual run

Harvest time at the Nevada State Railroad Museum (NSRM) started Saturday in Carson City with a cornucopia of family fun and entertainment.

The Harvest Train returned to Carson City Saturday morning for another two-weekend run in October, steaming into Wabuska Station to begin its celebration of the fall season.

I’m usually a lover of sunny days, but right now I say bring on the rain. The moisture is a welcome help to our heroic firefighters in Lake Tahoe and Washoe Valley. Because of the wet weather and the recent fires, some activities have been postponed: most notably the Advocates to End Domestic Violence’s Annual Light After Dark Run. There are still plenty of things to occupy your time, but the weather may force more cancellations.

With the second part of storm wave expected to arrive Saturday, the annual Light After Dark Walk/Run for Advocates to End Domestic Violence has been postponed until Friday, Oct. 28 pending park approval.
