Honor Guard lays wreath for Carson City Sheriff's Deputy Carl Howell, killed in the line of duty
This morning, Honor Guard laid the wreath in honor of Deputy Carl Howell, EOW August 15, 2015.
Carl was a true law enforcement professional by every measure and a friend to everyone he ever came in contact with.
We remember Carl, not just as a Deputy Sheriff, but as a friend, father, son, brother and a pillar of light in what sometimes can be a very challenging world around us.
Tomorrow marks the fifth anniversary of his tragic death. The memory of Carl lives on within our community. A former marine, a volunteer fire fighter, and a fully committed law enforcement officer.
At home he was a devoted father, and a passionate husband; Carl enjoyed every moment of life and shared that character every day. He was a member of our Honor Guard, the same guard that stretches across this great nation.
He was devoted and committed to ensuring that we never forget those who have fallen before us, nor the families that are shattered in the wakes of violence. Countless times, he too stood silent in these arenas, polished, and motionless as a procession passed him.
Carl understood and embraced the honor of service, dedication, devotion to duty, and the placement of others before self, even at all cost.
