Mammovan offers mammography screenings this week in Virginia City, Carson City and Fallon
Nevada Health Centers will deploy its Mammovan this week with stops in Virginia City, Carson City and Fallon for mammography screenings.
Early detection is key in the fight against breast cancer, so access to screenings is critically important. This work is continuing during the COVID-19 pandemic. To accommodate women who are due for a mammography screening, Nevada Health Centers continually criss-crosses the state and makes stops in Nevada communities.
Mammography screenings are primarily for women age 40 and older; however, screenings will be provided to those younger than 40 that have a screening referral from a provider. Pre-screening for any COVID-19 related symptoms will occur inside the clinic prior to entering the Mammovan.

— Monday, August 2: Virginia City Community Health Center, 175 E. Carson St., Virginia City, 7:40 a.m. to 3:40 p.m.
— Tuesday, August 3: Sierra Nevada Health Center, 3325 Research Way, Carson City, 7:40 a.m. to 2 p.m.
— Wednesday, August 4: Fallon Tribal Health Clinic 1001 Rio Vista Dr., Fallon, 7:40 a.m. to 3:40 p.m.
NVHC’s mission is to provide access to quality healthcare services throughout Nevada. Screenings are provided to all women regardless of economic status. Nevada Health Centers accepts most major insurance plans, Medicaid and Medicare and offer a sliding fee scale for those who are uninsured.
Nevada Health Centers operates the Mammovan, a mobile mammography van that provides convenient access to mammography services to women. The Mammovan began operations in 2000, and was initially made possible by a grant secured by former Congressman John Ensign and former First Lady of Nevada, Dema Guinn.
NVHC is a non-profit, Federally Qualified Community Health Center dedicated to providing access to quality health care throughout Nevada since 1977. NVHC operates more than 17 health centers throughout Nevada, that include three mobile programs, the Ronald McDonald Care Mobile, NVHC Mammovan, and the Nevada Children’s Health Project plus a Visiting Nurse Program in Lockwood.
