Curry's epic hole-in-one during American Century Championship keeps him in the lead

Golden State Warriors Guard Steph Curry did something at Edgewood Tahoe that he had only done once before in his life — a hole-in-one. An exuberant Curry ran off the 7th tee as his shot when into the bucket 152 yards later on the seventh hole.
A hole-in-one had only been done four previous times during the American Century Championship at Lake Tahoe.
Curry, the leader after the first round, finished with 23 points Saturday to maintain his lead. He has 50 for the tournament and leads former tennis player Mardy Fish and Dallas Stars right win Joe Pavelski, who are each at 47 points. To round off the leaderboard are two previous winners, actor Jack Wagner, and former MLB pitcher Mark Mulder. Former running back Marshall Faulk is at 37.
That was wild,” said Curry, who tossed his hat, sprinted to the green and slapped the flagstick before soaking in the crowd’s loud embrace on the 7th hole. “It was good contact, right at the stick, but even if you’re painting the flag and it looks good, you never really expect it to go in. I just saw a bunch of hands go up, and then you just kind of black out.” Pavelski was in his group and got a first-hand look at the ace.
“You see it land, and it just disappears,” Pavelski said. “It was pretty cool … In the chaos that happens after, we were trying to get to Steph. He just kind of spins out of it and takes off. He’s got some good speed on him.”
Defending champion Tony Romo, who has won at Lake Tahoe three previous years is tied for 12th with 32 points. Romo was the favorite at 5/2. Incline Village resident and LPGA great Annika Sorenstam has 34 points and is tied for eighth.
The leaders will be teeing off on Sunday at 9:42 a.m. and 9:51 a.m. on the first tee. See the list of tees times here.
