Carson City Sheriff's Office arrests: Man booked for suspicion of second DUI this month
A 37-year-old man was arrested early Wednesday for suspicion of DUI second, driving on a revoked license and probation violation, according to a Carson City Sheriff's Office booking report.
At around 12:53 a.m., a deputy was going eastbound Highway 50 and observed a Dodge Ram pulling out of a tavern parking lot and proceeding to travel southbound on Highway 50 with a broken headlight.
The officer initiated a traffic stop on the pickup and spoke with the driver, who was extremely slow in his movements, the report states. While speaking he was delayed in his response to answer any questions, had slurred speech and watery, glassy eyes. When asked if he had been drinking, the man said no, the report states.
Dispatch advised the man had a revoked license and was recently arrested for DUI on June 13, 2023. The revocation period was active from June 13 to Dec. 14. Another deputy advised he also smelled an odor of alcohol coming from the man.
As the man walked to the patrol vehicle he could not keep his balance and continued to slur his speech. When asked if he was willing to submit to field sobriety tests he said no and refused tests. He advised deputies that his attorney told him to refuse any and all testing, even though the man never made any phone calls to his attorney while in the presence of officers.
Based on observations, the man's driving patterns, slurred speech and inability to maintain proper balance, and had the smell of alcohol on his person, he was placed under arrest for suspicion of DUI, probation violation and driving on a revoked license. He was taken to jail where a deputy contacted a Carson City judge and was granted an evidentiary blood sample. Bail: $6,137.
