Tyler Golden picked as Carson High varsity boys basketball coach; Pedro Chavez to lead varsity boys soccer

Carson High Athletics is pleased to announce the hiring of Tyler Golden as the new head varsity boys basketball coach at Carson High School and Pedro Chavez as the new head varsity boys soccer coach.
“Tyler brings a new direction to our program that we are very excited about,” CHS Athletic Director Blair Roman said. “He is an experienced young coach having served in several coaching and athletic department roles at the high school and college level. His mission is to produce competitive basketball teams at Carson High School, through a grounded philosophy that is clear, well-rounded and centered on athlete development on and off the court. We look forward to supporting him as he leads our program into the future.”
The boys basketball team completed a 10-15 season this past year with a 5-11 league record finishing one game out of play-off qualification.
Coach Golden will quickly implement summer workouts and open gyms to start preparation for the 2022-23 season, beginning the process of implementing his program to bring future success to boys basketball at Carson High School.
Coach Golden earned a degree in Human Resource Management at Brigham Young University while playing on the men's basketball scout team and working as a team manager. He then earned a Master of Business Administration and a Master of Sport Administration at Ohio University. He is currently employed at Western Nevada College.
Carson High School is also pleased to announce Pedro Chavez, a 2010 Carson High graduate and soccer program alumni, has been hired as the new Head Varsity Boys Soccer Coach at CHS. He replaces Frank Martinez who led the program for the past six seasons.
“Coach Chavez excelled at CHS as a goalie and brings his passion and love for the sport to the program,” Roman said. “Carson High won the Sierra League title each year that Pedro was in high school at CHS. He was part of some outstanding teams and looks forward to creating a positive and competitive atmosphere. He will be a great role model for our soccer program participants.”
After graduating from Carson High in 2010, Chavez earned his degree in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Nevada and is employed with Valeo Thermal Systems.
