Carson City arrests: Wrong-way driver on I-580 booked for DUI, other alleged offenses
A 28-year-old woman was arrested early Saturday in the area of northbound I-580 and Snyder for misdemeanor suspicion of DUI, reckless driving and other offenses, according to a Carson City Sheriff's Office booking report.
At around 3:10 a.m. Saturday a deputy was dispatched to the area of I-580 and Arrowhead for a report of a vehicle driving southbound in the northbound lanes.
Dispatch advised the deputy that multiple callers to dispatch said the driver was to have reached I-580 and Highway 50 East and still driving the wrong way at a high rate of speed, the report states.
Another deputy was able to locate the vehicle at I-580 and Fairview Drive. The deputy requested the first deputy to respond to prevent the vehicle from hitting other vehicles head on.
The deputy was able to force the driver to stop underneath the Snyder Avenue overpass. Once stopped another deputy approached the vehicle and ordered the driver out of the vehicle. Deputies also observed an open container in the center console, the report states.
When the woman was questioned by other deputies, she claimed she was driving on the wrong side of the road because of her GPS and because she was unfamiliar with roads in Nevada and that she was from the Bay Area, the report states. The woman agreed to standardized field sobriety tests.
The woman advised she was on an anti-depressant and high blood pressure medication. She also admitted to consuming alcoholic beverages earlier in the night. During the interview the woman had slurred speech, and had a moderate odor of alcohol coming from her person.
She showed signs of impairment on the standardized field sobriety tests and provided a preliminary breath test of .199. She was arrested for suspicion of DUI. She consented to providing an evidentiary blood sample. She was booked for the following: misdemeanor DUI, reckless driving, open contain, driving left of center. Bail: $2,508.

— A 68-year-old Carson City man was arrested Saturday for suspicion of misdemeanor DUI.
According to the booking report, deputies arrived at a bar in the 200 block of West Winnie for a report of an accident. A deputy observed a man standing next to a truck. The man had slurred speech, an odor of alcohol coming from his person and bloodshot eyes.
The man said he had been driving his truck and had driven it to the store. He denied hitting another vehicle. He agreed to standardized field sobriety tests and showed signs of impairment. He provided a preliminary breath test of .259 and was arrested for suspicion of DUI. At jail he provided evidentiary tests of .192 and .182.
Bail: $1,137.
— A Carson City man was arrested Sunday for suspicion of DUI. According to the booking report, deputies were dispatched at 4:29 a.m. Sunday to the area of West 6th Street and South Division for an unknown injury accident. Upon arrival a deputy observed a black Ford Ranger that was facing South and had struck a tree head on, on the east side of Division Street. The Ford Ranger had severe damage to the front end, the report states.
A deputy made contact with the driver of the vehicle. He was the only occupant. He was asked if he was OK and he responded that he was fine. The deputy observed the man had thick, slurred speech and an odor of alcohol coming from his person.
Carson City Fire Department arrived on scene to assess the man, who was transported to Carson Tahoe Hospital. The deputy followed the ambulance and made contact with the on-call district attorney and Judge Kristin Luis, who granted a search warrant for a blood draw of the man. Bail: $1,137.
