Carson City sheriff's deputies make arrests for suspected DUI, drug possession
A 64-year-old man was arrested Monday for suspicion of DUI, according to a Carson City Sheriff's Office booking report.
At 7:16 p.m. a Carson City sheriff's deputy was dispatched to Telegraph Street for a suspicious vehicle call. Dispatch advised that a passerby saw a man urinate outside his vehicle door and that he got back inside the driver's side with the windows down and the truck running.
A deputy located the vehicle and saw it was occupied by a man who was slumped over the steering wheel and asleep. The vehicle was running. The deputy woke up the man and informed him why he was there. The man admitted that he was drunk, according to the arrest report.
The deputy had the man turn off the vehicle and step outside. The officer located a firearm in the side door pocket and secured the firearm. He had no weapons on his person, the report states.
The man was asked if he would be willing to perform field sobriety testing. The man stated he would not. The officer asked if he would be willing to blow into a preliminary breath test. The man stated he would not. He was arrested for suspicion of DUI and read the Carson City Sheriff's Office Request for Voluntary Evidence. The man refused to provide a breath or blood test.
The man was taken to jail without incident. The deputy contacted a judge with a telephonic warrant for a blood draw, which was granted. A blood draw was collected and booked into evidence. Bail: $1,137.
