Carson Tahoe Health big winner in recent Silver State Accountable Care Organization contest
CARSON CITY — Silver State Accountable Care Organization (ACO) recently named Carson Tahoe Health’s Medical Group the winner in four categories listed in last year’s “Close the Gap Contest.” CTMG was recognized for their efforts in: Breast cancer screening, colorectal screening, tobacco use & cessation and depression screenings.
“We are so incredibly proud and humbled by this recognition,” said Don Hemerson, CTMG Practice Manager. “Countless caregivers were instrumental in our care gap coordination efforts last year, especially Kim Orms, our CTMG Quality Coordinator who drives all of our care gap closures. Everyone goes above and beyond to provide critical and preventative services that are greatly needed in our community. It’s why many of them chose to join the healthcare industry in the first place.”
Silver State ACO works with Medicare and local providers, such as CTMG, to improve patient health outcomes and conserve resources for Medicare through detection, treatment, and management of conditions that could lead to complications.
The organization defined seven key metrics for the “Close the Gap Contest:” Breast Cancer Screening, Colorectal Screening, Tobacco Use & Cessation, Influenza Immunizations, Fall Risk Screening, Controlling High Blood Pressure, and Depression Screening.
Of these seven metrics, CTMG closed the most gaps in Breast Cancer Screening, Colorectal Screening, Tobacco Use & Cessation, and Depression Screening.
“By encouraging our patients to get screenings, immunizations, routine checkups, and other preventative care, we help our patients achieve better health,” said Vice President of the Carson Tahoe Medical Group, Ryan Patton MBA. “This helps us achieve our mission of enhancing the health and well-being of the communities we serve while also assisting in cost reduction for Medicare.”
This recognition comes off the heels of the multi-agency Community Health Needs Assessment, where community members identified several pressing health issues in our community, including mental and emotional well-being.
