Young musicians sought for Carson City Rotary youth competition, deadline Feb. 27
The Rotary Club of Carson City is looking for talented young musicians to take part in the club’s annual music contest. The contest is open to students in the 9th-12th grades, or 14-18 years of age for home schooled or non-traditionally schooled students.
The first round takes place Feb. 27 at 6:30 p.m. in the Brewery Arts Center’s Grand Ballroom, 449 West King Street, Carson City.
All musical instruments are welcome. The student needs to perform for 3 to 8 minutes. A total of $250 in prize money will be awarded with the winner receiving $100. The winner will then advance to the Area contest and potentially on to the District contest. Those contests also award cash prizes.
The Rotary Club of Carson City hosts this contest to encourage young musicians to pursue their musical aspirations and to provide a way for them to showcase their talent.
Anyone interested in taking part in the competition should contact Rotarian Michael Pelham at michael.ross.pelham@gmail.com.
