Reports of fraudulent unemployment benefit claims coming into Carson City Sheriff's Office

The Carson City Sheriff’s Office has taken numerous fraud reports about fraudulent unemployment benefit claims. The sheriff's office has forwarded those reports to the state of Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation and federal law enforcement agencies.
Some of those fraud victims are reporting to the Carson City Sheriff’s Office that they have received 1099 forms from the IRS which show they were paid the fraudulent unemployment funds.
The State of Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation has released the following advice for anyone who has received a 1099 form in error.
The State Department of Employment, Training, and Rehabilitation (DETR), which manages Nevada's unemployment system, has published a new web site allowing you to request a corrected 1099-G form online, rather than calling through their system.
If you received a 1099-G as the result of a fraudulent unemployment claim in your name, you may visit this website: https://ft.nvdetr.org/form/1099GCR to request a corrected form.
Where the form asks for a claimant ID, you can leave that blank (you will not have this number, as you likely did not file a claim for unemployment).

If you receive notice of a fraudulent unemployment claim, contact the state Department of Employment, Training, and Rehabilitation (DETR) at 775-684-0475.
If you are a victim of identity theft or an internet crime, visit the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s (FBI) website https://ic3.gov/ for information to file a complaint.
