Obituary: Barbara Joy Mott

Barbara Joy Mott was born to Frank and Ruby Clair in La Junta, Colorado on Oct. 3, 1932. She was Frank and Ruby's second child and only daughter. Her father was a blacksmith and metal worker but passed away when Joy was only ten years old.
After Frank's death the family made its living by picking fruit in California such as peaches, almonds, grapefruit, plums and sometimes cotton. Barbara always went by her middle name Joy and said that she didn't know that her first name was Barbara until she was in the fifth grade.
In 1961 she married William C. Mott. William and Joy worked together at various businesses. William worked for the Southern Pacific Railroad while Joy managed a grocery store in Chemult, Oregon. The couple later moved to Colfax California. It was while Joy was in Colfax that Joy first became associated with Jehovah's Witnesses and she was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses in 1975. Joy had a great zeal for her faith and shared it with all whom she met.
After leaving Colfax the family then moved to Applegate, California to manage a motel there, then finally settled in Burney, California where they bought the Charm Motel and operated it from 1971 to 1986. After selling the business Joy and William moved to Carson City, Nevada in June of 1987. Joy was known for her generosity to both family and friends, a warm outgoing personality and a no nonsense approach to life.
Joy passed away peacefully at her home in Carson City on October 22, 2019 at the age of 87. She is survived by her son's Terry Jonte (Lillian) and William Mott (Dianna) daughters Shari Smith (Steven) and Barbi Reimers (Kenneth), brothers Dean Clair, Zane Clair and a sister Margaret Newton, nine grandchildren, twenty-four great-grandchildren, three step-great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband William C. Mott, Father Frank Clair, Mother Ruby Clair Stotts, her brothers Jerry Clair, Benny Clair, Dennis Stotts and Wallace Stotts.
