Senators Flip The Script From Last Year Against Lancers
The Senators of Carson High took on the Lancers of McQueen Thursday afternoon. Last year in the very first round of team regionals, the Lancers absolutely put the hammer down on the Senators and showed no mercy cruising by with a 17-1 victory.
This year, however, things would be very different for the Senators who managed to flip the script of last year and dominated the Lancers this afternoon.
The Senators were up 10-2 after the second round of action and even almost all of the substitutes contributed to finish out the third round and leave a final score of 15-3.
Kyle Kunz and Aaron Woodbury picked up an expected two wins as did the doubles team of Trevor Sollberger and Jared Hearn. Taylor Saarem easily picked up his two wins in singles as well. The most impressive fact of the day was that every Carson player who touched the court today, except for one doubles team, was able to contribute to the Senators controlling win.
I asked Head Coach Hal Wilkins what the difference between the last time Carson played McQueen and got dominated versus being the dominators today and he replied with, "Experience. We have got quite a bit of experience on our side and they have an extremely inexperienced team this year."
The Senators last two matches are at North Valleys High School versus the Panthers and finish out the season at home against the Manogue Miners.
When I asked Coach Wilkins how he plans to prepare the team to play the Panthers and Miners his response was, "At this stage in the season, all we are really going to work on is tactics and strategy. We'll also try to touch up the little things and work on being strong mentally."
